Board Holds Meeting at Iowa 4-H Center
The quarterly Iowa 4-H Board of Trustees meeting was held at Iowa 4-H Center. The Trustees had the opportunity to see the indoor and outdoor improvements they have invested in over the last year on the 1,100 acre camping center operated by the Foundation.  The Foundation Board thanks the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for their teamwork during this year of changes, and their Iowa 4-H camp programing at the Iowa 4-H Center. The Foundation looks forward to continuing their investments into opportunities for Iowa's 4-H youth.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation is in the beginning stages of a website "facelift".  We are requesting your help to showcase some recent IOWA 4-H'ers in action on various pages throughout their new website.  If you have pictures you are willing to share with the Iowa 4-H Foundation for their website, please email them to Brooke Young at

4-H'ers can also summit their photos via social media by using the hashtag #4Hselfie. Be sure you follow us on Twitter and Instagram, @ia4Hfoundation, and Facebook, iowa4hfoundation

Funding Opportunities for Iowa's
4-H Youth
Over $25,000 raised by Iowa 4-H'ers

The Iowa 4-H Foundation was presented with a $25,642.70 check by  the 2013-2014 Iowa 4-H State Council at the 2014 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference Banquet.
This year's fundraising campaign will provide $1,013.14 toward the tornado safe room at the Iowa 4-H Center, as chosen by the Iowa 4-H State Council. The remaining funds from the campaign will fund state events such as the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, operation costs of the 2014-2015 State Council, and fund financial assistance to help 4-H families with state program fees and 4-H camp fees at the Iowa 4-H Center.
This is the 4-H'ers for 4-H campaign's 29th year, and 354 4-H clubs representing 81 counties participated in this year's campaign. The 4-H'ers for 4-H Campaign for the Iowa 4-H Foundation is the longest-running and the largest fundraising campaign conducted by 4-H members for 4-H members.
Barb Determan Honored with the Successful Farming/Loren Kruse Outstanding Iowa 4-H Leader Award
Upon the retirement of Successful Farming's Editor-in-Chief, Loren Kruse,  Meredith Corporation Foundation and Edwin T. Meredith Foundations honored him with a $25,000 gift to the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The donation establishes an endowment  to honor one outstanding 4-H volunteer leader every year. At last month's Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, the second Successful Farming/Loren Kruse Outstanding Iowa 4-H Leader Award was presented to Sac County 4-H Leader Barb Determan.

Determan was nominated by a 4-H alumna, Emily Haselhoff, a 4-H'er who was in Determan's club in Early, Iowa named the Early Achievers.  "Barb makes being a 4-H'er feel more like joining a family, rather than a 4-H club," said Haselhoff. "Whether it is helping with 4-H awards or needing someone to talk to, she goes above and beyond being just a 4-H leader; she is an inspiration to the next generation of leaders.".
