ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SKEET SHOOT
Thank you to everyone that came out to our "make-up" skeet shooting competition at Yahoola Park & Rec. We had a great time with everyone. Special thanks to the Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers (SRO) for coordinating and assisting with the event. Also, huge thanks to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for your assistance with teaching gun safety and skeet shooting for all the youth. It was a great day!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

The annual July 4th fireworks show on the UNG Dahlonega campus will be launched from the top level of the Walker Drive Parking Deck. This new location will require the top level of the Walker Drive Parking Deck along with HNS parking lots 34 and 35 to be closed for the event.

All vehicles in Lot 34, Lot 35, and the top level of the Walker Drive Park...ing Deck need to be removed by midnight on Wednesday July 3rd. These areas will remain closed until noon on Friday July 5th. Vehicles on any other level of the deck do not have to be moved.

West Main Street will be closed between Morrison Moore Parkway and Mount Hope Cemetery Road on Thursday July 4th from 9:30pm to approximately 10:15pm due to the fireworks safety zone. The street will reopen immediately following the fireworks.

WATER SAFETY
We are in the full swing of summer and getting ready for the 4th of July holidays. Parents please always have your eyes on your children when in or around water. A child can drown in less than 2 inches of water. When playing at Yahoola Park or anywhere that has water, please watch your babies. Wishing everyone a safe and fun holiday.

From the Sheriff's Desk
It's that time of year again ...one of my favorites as we celebrate the 4th of July with parades, car shows, hotdogs and apple pie (not for me....my choice is "pig cake") and of course fireworks. There is no better place that I can think of to celebrate the 4th of July than in Dahlonega. Our Downtown Dahlonega Development and volunteers work tirelessly organizing one of the best day long celebrations. I am grateful to be celebrating with you another year. As you are enjoying time with family and friends, be mindful just what Independence Day represents. This is such an important day for our country and it's equally important that we continue to celebrate and remember this day that our founders framed our freedoms for us. Happy 4th of July!
Be Safe!
