Message from President
Billie Araiza
Hello Soroptimist Sisters,

Happy 4th of July!

I hope all of you will be able to enjoy celebrating independence Day, while socially distancing. Speaking of Social Distancing, we have our first Summer Socializing with SI Chico Backyard Coffee on July 1st in Bonnie’s backyard and our take-out lunch on July 8th at Wildwood Park.

Thank you to everyone who attended President Carrie’s surprise party last Tuesday at 5 Mile. She was “REALLY” surprised! I would like to send a special thank you to Carrie for serving as our Club President this last year. She did a great job stepping out of her comfort zone and leading us through an unprecedented year. As a club, we were able to see Carrie shine as she realized she was more capable of leading us than she imagined. Thank you for your service, Carrie!

I’m looking forward to serving as our Club President and I can’t wait until we can all be together at our Club Picnic / Installation. Thank you to our club members who have stepped up to serve on our Board. We have a fantastic slate of incoming officers to help lead our club into our 100 Year celebration.

It’s a great time to be a Soroptimist,

With Gratitude,

President Billie
It is time to develop our Program Schedule for our 2020-2021 year. The available dates are very limited so please contact me ASAP to confirm.

Nov. Jan. Feb. and March are filled.

If some of the speakers that did not happen last year are interested in doing one this year please contact the guest and me ASAP.

At this time I am uncertain as to our protocol. Our meeting may remain via Zoom. Please be aware of that when discussing details with potential speakers.

Once I have updated 'Speaker Instructions' I will pass them on to you.

Thanks,

Roseann Bradley

44TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Hello again! I just had to get one more eblast in!

Seriously, I wanted to take a minute to ask you to take a minute (or longer) to check out our on line Sierra Nevada Region Conference! This is a great opportunity to attend Region Conference for FREE! Hundreds of you have already checked it out, but we want hundreds more to do so!!

You will see videos from myself, our Treasurer Sheron, our Governor-Elect Sarah, our Region Live Your Dream Award winners and Ruby Award winner, presentations from SIA and you will have access to reports from our region coordinators. We also have a virtual Marketplace where you or your club can buy and sell merchandise! You can still sign up to sell too, just go to the  marketplace page  on the website for information and to 'shop.' It’s great to have you! Check out the conference  here .

Don't forget to send in your picture of yourself in white for our suffragette montage to celebrate 100 years of women's right to vote. Please send your photo(s)to  socialmedia@soroptimistsnr.org .

Thanks!

Summer Socializing with SI Chico

Hello Soropti-sisters!

We are going to shake up our usual practice of summertime drop-in lunches in light of COVID-19 and hope that we can still socialize through the months of July and August comfortably. As you may know, we usually alternate through the list of member owned restaurants each Wednesday at noon through the summer, allowing members who are inclined and available to meet up with others and enjoy lunch while supporting our member's businesses. With social distancing and varying levels of comfort with dine-in, we decided to change this plan for summer 2020.

We will alternate take-out lunches and meeting at local parks with backyard morning coffee gatherings. ( Summer schedule below)

See you all this summer

SI Objectives
Backyard morning coffee:  Some of our members have offered their backyards for these (socially distanced) morning gatherings. Please plan to bring your own coffee (or other beverage) and a chair. Enter directly to each member's backyard. It will be great to hang out together. (9:00 a.m.)

July 1 – Coffee @ 9:00, Bonnie Chapman’s backyard

July 15 – Coffee @ 9:00, Carol Burr’s backyard

August 5 – Coffee @ 9:00, Jeanne Smith’s backyard

August 19 – Coffee @9:00 Carrie Pavis’s backyard
Take-out lunches:  Our schedule will list the "suggested" take-out restaurant for each of these and then designate a shade covered picnic area in one of our parks for the lunchtime meet-up. Brown bagging is always an option. (noon)

July 8 – La Comida – Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

July 22 - Spiteri - Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

July 29 – SOL – Pick up lunch and eat at DeGarmo Park

August 12 – Cozy Diner – Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

August 26 – La Hacienda – Pick up lunch and eat at DeGarmo Park
Bonnie kidnapped Carrie for Carrie's Surprise Party.
Thank You Carrie for a great year
Carrie We Love You!
As you may have suspected, The 2020 Home and Garden Show will not be taking place as originally planned. Instead, it has been rescheduled to the new dates of July 25 and July 26 . Our obligation and schedule will remain the same, however we will start over with a new sign-up genius. We realize it's difficult to know what our plans will be in July, but please go ahead and sign up and each of us can easily change our chosen shift if needed at a later date.

Thank-you everyone!
