Would you be able to bring a baked good to one of our Summer time Coffee Hours? From The Pastor's Desk:

“Do whatever you see fit to do, for God is with you.”
1 Samuel 10:7

This verse leads me to think of the Gospel story in which a rich young man asks Jesus what it takes to get into heaven. (Mark 10:17-22) This fellow has spent his life making sure to follow the letter of the law, never stepping over its limits. Jesus replies that he must let go of all that he possesses. The man goes away disappointed.

The problem with this man’s determined living is that he sees the limits of everything. Primarily, he sees heaven as the result of rules – follow all the rules and you’ll be rewarded by God! He lives his business life in a similar way – follow all the rules and you’ll be rewarded – and it has worked, because he is rich.

And as he meets Jesus, he asks for more rules. But Jesus demands that this young man become free! Jesus’ commands focus on love, and rules are only acceptable if they bring about love. “Down with rules,” Jesus might have shouted as the young man walked away. “Do WHATEVER you see fit to do – for God is with you!” he might have cried.

Even though we know that God is abundantly graceful, it can be a challenge to truly and humbly accept God’s grace. But in these Pentecost months, when we look for the Holy Spirit guiding our everyday growing, we might truly hear 1 Samuel 10:7 – “Do whatever you see fit to do, for God is with you.” We will act, not out of fear of sin, but with boldness because we know God is with us, guiding us and forgiving us. This verse reminds us both of the safety net we have in God’s forgiveness, but also our freedom to risk living and loving – for God is with us!
Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn

Peace Be With You!
(A "note" from Worship And Music Director, Rick Krause.)

At every worship service at Lord of Life, we "share the peace." Pastor Wendolyn will offer these words: "The peace of the Lord be with you always," and the congregation responds, "And also with you." We are then invited to "share the peace" with one another. Why do we share peace? How are we supposed to do it? What does sharing the peace mean? Check out the explanation by the ELCA worship staff by clicking on the link below.

Continuing Your Contributions
Your continuing financial support is essential to maintain the Ministries of Lord Of Life. Offerings are being collected at all church services. If you are still not attending services at our church building, your contribution can be mailed to the church (1 Winchester Court, Tabernacle, NJ 08088). Both Simply Giving and Tithe.ly remain in place for all to use. (More information about these electronic ways to contribute can be found on the church's website. The link is below.)

Join Our Teller Team!
We are looking to increase our Teller Team membership. The Tellers count the weekly contributions on Sunday mornings. The more teams we have the fewer the times our teams need to be present for the Sunday work sessions. We currently have 3 Teller Teams and we would like to operate with 4 Teller Teams. Training will be done prior to an assignment. If you can help with this vital and necessary task, please contact the church Financial Secretary, Carol Ebersberger. A link to her email is below.

From The Editor:

LifeLines Ending Song:
Here is a rendition of "God Bless America." In the fall of 1938, as fascism and war threatened Europe, Irving Berlin decided to write a peace song. He recalled an unpublished version of a tune that he had written during WWI in 1918. He used that song to create "God Bless America." Once Berlin decided to re-work the song, he worked in typical style, with speed and attention to detail. The first manuscript of "God Bless America" is dated October 31, 1938, and the earliest "final" version of the song is dated November 2, 1938. On November 11, 1938, it was introduced by Kate Smith during an Armistice Day broadcast on her radio show. Neither Berlin nor Smith kept any royalties generated from the song. Berlin considered this song a gift to America. The royalties have generated over 10 million dollars and are given to Boy and Girl Scout programs.

"From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam. God Bless America, my home sweet home!"
