Coffee Hour Fellowship
Every Sunday

Join us for Coffee Hour every Sunday following the 9:30 AM service. Be with us in Fellowship Hall to socialize, catch up with church friends, enjoy some treats, and, of course, sip our "heavenly" coffee!
Sign Up Sheet For Summer Treats
No specific group will be assigned to host Coffee Hour during the months of July and August. We are hoping that congregation members would provide cookies, a cake, or some other goodies that can be served during Coffee Hour. If you want to sign up for a particular Sunday, a sign-up sheet to do so will be at each Coffee Hour.
Show And Talk
With
"The Good Place"
Following Coffee Hour
June 25th - July 30th
Join us to watch episodes of "The Good Place," in which four people comically struggle in the afterlife to define what it means to be good. It stars Ted Danson and Kirsten Bell with episodes of 22 minutes. We will have a short discussion following watching the DVD. We'll begin as coffee hour winds down, around 11:00 AM and finish around 11:30 AM.
Rated 4.5 stars on Amazon, a Rotten Tomatoes reviewer says, "Kristen Bell and Ted Danson knock it out of the park with supremely entertaining, charming performances in this absurd, clever and whimsical portrayal of the afterlife." Common Sense Media says it's best for the 14+ years old viewers.
From The Pastor's Desk:

Summer greetings! This month, instead of offering wisdom, invitations, reflections on theology or Scripture, I just want to share my thanks. There is SO MUCH to be thankful for here at Lord of Life! I'm thankful for (in no particular order!): seeing the beauty and variety of quilts coming in ... having to cap our VBS registrations, and the only limit was space for the Joyful craft projects ... our ukelele group making music together ... when the Holy Spirit helps sermons meet a need that I didn't even know of ... people discovering new ministries they can support, and the joy that serving gives them ... Bridge of Peace hosting their day camp ... Christian Caring Center celebrating 40 years of sharing ... singing praises with old hymns, new songs, and new words to old melodies ... the teamwork of our Council ... the energy our 6th-10th graders bring ... our many teams, groups, and committees who reach out in so many ways ... the baptism of little Athena and the birth of sweet Mayleia ... the love of God that shows up in ways predictable and unexpected. Some of you remember the best-selling book 10,000 Things To Be Happy About, and I hope that if we tried to write out a shared list of gratitude, it would be equally varied, lengthy, and delightful. Thank you for being a part of our faith community!
Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn
Pastor Wants To Know You Better!

Before and after church services, I try to say hello to every congregation member who was present, but it is usually not the kind of conversation that we can get to know each other better. July 5 through August 11 is a prime time for getting together for some quality time. I would love to stop by your home for a brief visit and just talk. We could tour your backyard, sit on the porch, or even take a walk in your neighborhood. I look forward to learning more about your hobbies, interests, and family. Some folks have said, "Oh Pastor, I don't want to 'put you out' by taking your time!" But, to me it would be something I hope to experience. Please extend an invitation to me to visit with you. It could be at your home or other ways of connecting like meeting at a local park. Our homes and lives had become sealed off during the darker days of Covid, and we can now open up again. Let’s get to know each other better. I’m looking forward to that!

At 10:00 AM

On the first Thursday of each month, Lord Of Life presents a program, Songs Of Joy and Scriptures, to the Wiley residents in Marlton. In July we will present a program, "Freedom In Christ." We are very excited to share that Wiley has lifted visitation restrictions. When we present our program there on Thursday, July 6th, we will be able to bring as many people as we like. The folks at Wiley are quite welcoming and our music brings smiles to them. They look forward to seeing us each month.
If you would like to participate by either singing, playing an instrument, doing a scripture reading, handing out song sheets, or just being there to greet the residents, please contact Janell Reich or Sue Dreisbach. You do not have to commit to every month. "Stepping-stones To Health"
At Lord Of Life:
Strong Bones And Balance Fitness Program
Tuesday, July 18th
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
In April, a few members of Lord of Life began to ask, “How might we be better stewards of our health?” Thus, the steering committee consisting of Ed and Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Penny Miller, Pastor Wendolyn, Barbara Ma, and Cynthia Tait began to plan for an exciting new emphasis on health at LoL. The group had fun creating the new title for the ministry, “Stepping-stones To Health,” at our May meeting. The title embodies the reality that change happens one step at a time and that God provides the solid foundation for this change. It also works on and through the knowledge that God wants us to care for our bodies. One more point for the grammar police out there. Instead of “Steppingstones” we use the hyphen in the title to indicate that we are not in this alone, as God is with each of us. Also, we are there for one another as we pursue better health.
In June, the committee crafted a vision that springs forth from our congregation’s larger mission: We are a welcoming community that encourages each other toward holistic health, offering stepping-stones to feel and live better! This vision stretches beyond the boundaries of our church membership so that anyone in the community can join us to pursue better health and wellness.
Please join our first program offering, Strong Bones and Balance Fitness, which will meet on Tuesday, July 18th from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM in Fellowship Hall. This video class is open to all ages, with exercises that can be adjusted for nearly any ability level. Come as you are in comfortable clothes. If you cannot make it in July, the next session will be offered on August 22 from 6:30 PM -7:30 PM. We also invite anyone that would like to join the Stepping-stones to Health steering committee to attend the next planning meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 6th at 1:30 PM in Fellowship Hall where we will be planning the activities for the fall. If you have questions, please get in touch with Cynthia Tait by email carussell1@comcast.net or phone 602-708-6997.
From The Worship And Music Committee:
Something To Consider
Recently, the Worship and Music Committee reviewed how many volunteers from our congregation are needed for Lord of Life to conduct 3 worship services each weekend. In addition to Pastor leading the service; our church secretary, Debbie Chromeck, making sure bulletins and our projection slides are available; Breanne Tomlinson running BFF; and Rick Krause playing the organ and piano, directing the choir, and leading the Praise Team, we came up with 46 people!

TOTAL: 46 people!

Also note that, the sanctuary beautification team, once a month nursery room helpers, and the Worship & Music Committee were not counted in the weekly numbers, but they are also truly vital to our worship ministry! Are there others who we forgot?
Worship assistants are always needed and welcome! Yes, we realize that more than one of these tasks can be and are being filled by the same person, like the same person opening up the building and running the AV projection system or being on Altar Guild and also serving as a Communion assistant. But even when we combine jobs, many people are needed. Can you help? If you would like more information, please see Pastor, Barb Wagner, or Rick Krause.

The best time to mow the lawn is when Grace Place is not in session and when no church services are being held: Tuesday thru Friday afternoons, Monday all day, and Saturday mornings. Training will be provided to those who have not used our equipment in the past. Please email Craig Baechler, Property Ministry, and tell him the weeks on which you will be able to help out.

Church Library
The Lord Of Life Library is located in the room next to the church office. It is always accessible by using the door from the hallway. It contains a large selection of books and some DVD’s as well. There are items of interest for all age ranges. Borrow what you wish, and return the items when you are finished with them.
The most recent addition to our library is a shelf of health related books. We received a wonderful donation of books on breast health, cancer, and other topics. We would like to expand this section, and if you would like to donate any books related to health, you can leave them in the library, either on the table or this designated shelf (top shelf on the left-most bookcase).

If you would like to join us, please sign up on the sheet posted to the Narthex bulletin board. There are still a couple of ukuleles available. If you have any questions, please contact Janell Reich.
Soup Ministry

If you make a meal or soup and have leftovers, please consider donating them. We are asking you to store food in a disposable deli container, label the contents, and place it in the large, upright freezer in the church kitchen which is located next to the stove. The food will be distributed to those of the congregation who are in need. Thanks From Bridge Of Peace
Pastor Wendolyn and Betty Mastrillo received this note from Pastor Giselle. We wanted to share it with all our readers.
Dear Friends,
Can you thank everyone in your ministry for their support of our daycamp and VBS for a full day/week. We plan to sponsor 30 children and teens and are excited this year as we have invited a mission partner, St Marks Oaklyn, to join us for the week, as we are together being served by Vicar Andy Jones and Cross Roads. The children are super excited about our annual trip to Atsion Lake and Campgrounds as well.
Thank you for your support. It is a gift the many ways we serve the Gospel together on this territory.
Peace,
Pastor Giselle
Helping Hands Ministry
Wednesday, July 26th,
At 9:30 AM
(For The Christian Caring Center)
Helping Hands is a monthly ministry to make sandwiches for the homeless served by Christian Caring Center. It meets the last Wednesday of each month. We form an assembly line and make about 200 sandwiches in an hour. Jobs are easy – putting meat and cheese on a roll, placing sandwiches in a baggie, counting the sandwiches, and putting them in a grocery bag. Everyone gets a small, easy task and a lot gets done quickly while we share some time together. We keep everyone safe by wearing gloves and masks, spacing ourselves, and venting the room. All are invited to join us! If you have any questions, please contact Janell Reich.

MORE Athletic Shoe Collection

MORE stands for Modular Organic Regenerative Environments. The group is 100% funded by recycling athletic shoes, keeping them out of landfills. Donated shoes are sold to participating vendors in developing countries. Proceeds regenerate forests and jump start small farming co-ops in needy regions. This creates retail jobs while stimulating free enterprise. MORE provides basic supplies, tools, seeds (fruit-bearing mango, papaya, avocado and income producing mahogany), and agroforestry training to poor farming families, school children and rural villages.
Our collection box has been moved back to the church entryway area. Please give only sneaker-type used footwear, no dress or other types of shoes.

LifeLines Ending Song:
Our ending song, America The Beautiful, was the combination of two independent works. The lyrics were written by Katharine Lee and its music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward of Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ. The two never met. Bates was an English professor at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. During a trip to Colorado in 1893, she was inspired by the sights seen along the way, and wrote a poem, Pikes Peak, which would become the words to America The Beautiful. Ward was on his way home from Coney Island on a ferry boat when he penned the tune in 1882. It was first called, O Mother, Dear Jerusalem, and later titled, Materna. In 1910 the tune and words were combined to create America The Beautiful. Over the years there have attempts to give the song equal status to The Star Spangled Banner. Let us pray that God will to continue to “shed His grace” on our nation.
