The purpose of this solicitation is to provide CEC cost-share funding for applicants who apply for and receive an award under an eligible federal Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) and meet the requirements of this solicitation.

On the day of the inspection you should have:

• Battery health report from the seller, with state-of-health percentage.
• Owner-app check, with current full-charge range and any diagnostic codes.
• Quick comparison of dashboard full-charge range against the original EPA rating.
• Optional independent inspection, especially on a higher-priced purchase.
• Written confirmation of remaining battery warranty, with terms.

A Seasoned Fleet Manager “Does the Math” on EVs

David Renschler, Fairfield Fleet Manager and Owner of EVSE Answers analyzes some of the costs of EVs that are “Hiding” in plain sight. Beyond increased capital cost, these include:

• Power leakage - Between the meter and the charger, you lose about 5%, and between the charger and the battery, another 12%.
• Tire wear is nearly double for BEVs.
• Chargers require maintenance, and age like electronics with a life of only 5-7 years before needing to be replaced.
• Depreciation for EVs is significantly higher.
