Community Update
Quail Creek Country Club POA
Hello Quail Creek Residents,
The Quail Creek POA was informed on July 13, 2020, that a resident has received a lab-confirmed, positive test for COVID-19. The last date the resident entered a Quail Creek facility was June 29, 2020 to purchase clothing at the Pro Shop. Individuals who may have come into contact with this resident have been notified. The resident is currently quarantined in compliance with state health department guidance. For reasons of privacy and confidentiality in CDC, EEOC and HIPAA guidance, we are not permitted to share the resident's name or any additional health information.

The well-being of Quail Creek residents and staff is our highest priority. We continue to follow protocols and guidelines established for COVID-19 from the CDC, Arizona Department of Health Services and other governmental agencies. For staff, measures implemented include employee screenings before shifts, the use of personal protective equipment, and the disinfecting/sanitizing of work areas.

Our restaurant received high marks for complying with guidelines during a July 9th surprise visit from the Pima County Health Department. T he County rewarded our restaurant for following the guidelines with a badge that can be placed at our entrance. This identifies our restaurant as one that is following the County’s protective public health measures. We will display that badge when received, likely within a few weeks.

I want to stress to everyone within Quail Creek how important it is to take COVID-19 seriously. Some of the phrases you hear during these trying times may become tiresome – but it doesn’t make them less true. The fact is that Quail Creek has a more vulnerable population, in general, due to age, and possible underlying conditions make this virus more dangerous. Young, old, or in-between, this virus is serious and we all need to be more careful, mindful, and vigilant until a vaccine or mitigating treatment is identified. Please wear masks when entering our facilities, use sanitizing stations and washing stations and continue to socially distance.

Within the POA operation, almost every day since mid-March, we have been given a new challenge with unexpected requirements, actions, or outcomes as a result. The impact of these challenges can be seen in all of our lives. It also has an impact on POA staff as they have had to undergo change after change over the past four months, sometimes adapting overnight to new mandates. Some staff members are out of work on furlough, some have been asked to do different jobs or work more hours, and others have remained on the front lines offering essential community services at their own personal risk. These staff members have been committed to the community, and sadly, some have had to endure some ugliness and discontent while just trying to do what they have been asked to protect the community. None of us want to close amenities, restrict activities, wear a mask, or do many of the things we have had to do. Federal, state, or local mandates are the law and we must abide by them. But more than that, our staff is not just taking action because it is the law, they want to help and be of service to the community. I would ask that all of you keep that in mind when interacting with staff members.

The impact that this virus has had on our community, and our world, is something that could never have been imagined. Life as we knew it has changed. What it will look like in two weeks, two months, or two years remains something that none of us can predict and is probably, the most difficult of all the challenges. My team and I remain committed to doing everything we can to maintain the high quality of life here at Quail Creek while navigating the many challenges that get presented to us. The POA continues to follow CDC and governmental mandates for sanitization, mask usage, social distance, hand-washing and any other means to help slow and stop the spread of COVID-19. Even with every effort being made, staying safe and healthy is ultimately up to you. Your behavior and choices dictate how well this community will weather the virus. Quail Creek is a special place, and to use an overused phrase, we are truly in this together, and when we work together, we will be better and stronger.
Best Regards,

David Jones, Quail Creek General Manager
