The next meeting of the Land Use Committee is Tuesday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. Staff from the county's Department of Planning & Development will be presenting the Proposed Agritourism Zoning Amendment. More information or contact Jose Delcid .

zMOD Consolidated Draft Now Available
The proposed Zoning Ordinance consolidates the current 20 articles and six appendices into nine articles and one appendix. The   draft   represents a consolidation of the previously released installments, with revisions as a result of feedback received throughout the process and additional work by staff, as described in Attachment 1.  Learn more .   
Transportation
Wiehle Avenue Pedestrian Overpass at W&OD Trail
According to the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT), the overpass project is in the Land Acquisition Phase. Here is the anticipated timeline:
  • Final Design Completion by Summer of 2020
  • Right-of-Way Acquisition/Utility Relocation Completion by Spring of 2022
  • Land Acquisition Completion by Spring of 2021
  • Utility Relocation Completion by Spring of 2022
  • Construction Begin by Summer of 2022
  • Construction Completion by Summer of 2023
FCDOT received VDOT right-of-way authorization in June 2020 to proceed with land acquisition and utility relocation. Utility relocation involves the relocation of Dominion Energy overhead transmission line (monopole facilities) located on Nova Parks property to accommodate the proposed pedestrian bridge over Wiehle Avenue.  For more information contact Shyamali Hauth .

The Connector resumed service to Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride bus loop on Monday, July 13. Construction activity continues at the location, including the Kiss and Ride lot, which will be closed until Silver Line Phase 2 service begins next year. Learn more .

Fairfax County Increases Funding for Fairfax RISE: Small Business and Nonprofit Relief Grant Program
The  Board of Supervisors  voted on July 14 to add $20 million in funding to the Fairfax Relief Initiative to Support Employers (RISE) program, bringing total program funding to $46 million. Learn more .

Neighbor to Neighbor Shopping Program Serves Its 100th Participant
The  N2N Shopping Program  is a free county program developed to provide grocery shopping and pharmacy pick up assistance for eligible adults 60 years old and older and adults with disabilities or medical vulnerabilities during COVID-19. Learn more .
