This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program promotes two upcoming sessions of the Digital Threat Assessment training being held via Zoom, provides links to the IASA's resource hub for reopening plans, links to an update from the IHSA on Return to Play Guidelines, and shares educational activities for kids from FEMA.

Reminder: Free Upcoming Sessions of Digital Threat Assessment on July 28th and August 13th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce that we will be offering two upcoming sessions of the "Digital Threat Assessment" training through Safer Schools Together. The goal of the Digital Threat Assessment class is to give attendees a stronger understanding of the current social media world, tools to be able to proactively identify student safety concerns, and provide strategies for dealing with online situations as they arise. IASA Shares Districts' Reopening Plans & More

The Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) has been expanding their Illinois Schools Step Up Tookit. In addition to the various resources in the toolkit, the IASA has added an ISBE Guidance Webinar Resources Hub titled Implementing ISBE Guidance: Superintendents Sharing Plans on How to Follow New Guidelines. This resource is a living document that will continue to be updated, and that presently shares Reopening Plans, Surveys & Communications to Parents, Surveys & Communications to Staff, and Response Letters to Family Surveys. School districts who have shared information include Barrington, Kankakee, North Shore, Peoria, Prospect Heights, Sparta, Frankfort, Leroy, Genoa-Kingston, Oakland, Tri Valley, and U-46.
IHSA Announces It Will Defer to IDPH, ISBE, & Governor's Office on Return to Play Guidelines

The Illinois High School Association announced Tuesday that, moving forward, it will defer to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illinois State Board of Education, and the Governor's Office on the Return to Play Guidelines. To view the announcement, click the link provided above.
FEMA Provides Educational Summer Activies for Kids During COVID-19

Noting that many Summer camps have been cancelled or altered due to COVID-19, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has put together a list of free resources to keep kids entertained while also teaching them about emergency preparedness. FEMA's Summer Fun for Kids in the Era of COVID-19 page links to resources such as Ready Kids , the Ready 2 Help card game , and the Build a Kit game .
