This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program shares information on the Safe2Help IL program, on sessions of the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method Train the Trainer class, on the Illinois School Safety Conference, and on the Invent2Prevent program, as well as promoting the upcoming Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment class in Godfrey

Safe2Help IL

Back to School is quickly approaching. One way to help keep schools safe is to have a way for students to report concerns. Safe2Help IL "is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, and website (Safe2HelpIL.com) to share information on school safety issues in a confidential environment."

The Educator Resources page of the Safe2Help IL website includes a variety of posters, certificates, and graphics; links to the Safe2Help IL Toolkit; and features educator training videos and resources.

In addition to providing a confidential platform for students to report their concerns, school districts can also choose to participate in the Safe2HelpIL program. There is no cost to participate in the program and, in doing so, the school's designated end users will be ones who are contacted if Safe2HelpIL receives any tips tied to the school. If schools do not participate and designate end users, Safe2Help Il "will forward confidential tips received from students, parents, school officials, and the community to the local law enforcement and/or schools." IFSI Offering 2 Sessions of SRP/SRM Train-the-Trainer

The Illinois Fire Service Institute will be offering 2 sessions of The "I Love U Guys" Foundation's Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM) Train-the-Trainer class. One session if being held July 23rd in Naperville and another session is being held September 9th in Springfield. Click on the flyers below for more information.

Upcoming Session of Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment™ August 11th in Godfrey

There's still time to register for the Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment™ class on August 11th in Godfrey, IL.

BDTA™ integrates Safer Schools Together’s Digital Threat Assessment® training and best practice from the National Threat Assessment Center’s Behavioral Threat Assessment model. BDTA™ includes a 3-step response plan developed to help S/TA teams ensure all worrisome, concerning, and threat-related behaviors are proactively responded to, reducing the potential of violence within your community. The training will examine techniques for identifying and assessing individuals who engage in behaviors consistent with a threat and provide S/TA teams with the tools to ensure a thorough data collection process. Additionally, the training will provide an overview of the assessment process, including best practices for interviewing and progress monitoring. Participants will obtain the tools vital for proactively and effectively identifying, assessing, and responding to worrisome and/or threat-related behavior through a BDTA™ management lens.

Illinois School Safety Conference October 1st

The Illinois School Safety Conference is scheduled for October 1, 2025, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm in Niles, IL. This conference is free for school personnel, police, fire, emergency preparedness personnel, and public safety officers (you must bring your school or agency ID to enter the event). The conference includes speakers from various organizations, free continental breakfast and lunch, and onsite vendors. Additionally, paperwork will be provided on site for school personnel seeking Professional Development hours. For more information and to register, click here.

Registration Open for Illinois Invent2Prevent

Illinois high schools are invited to participate in Invent2Prevent, a free school safety and prevention program. "Illinois Invent2Prevent challenges high school students to create and implement peer-developed initiatives, products, and tools to prevent targeted violence in ways they think will be most effective in making their schools and communities safer."
