Remember to Return Your IVMA Member Survey

Last week you should have received an email from us containing the IVMA Member Needs and Satisfaction Survey

Please take the time to complete the survey to help us improve the quality of services and benefits we offer to our members. The survey should take you about 15 minutes to complete and you will have two weeks to complete and return the survey.

If you complete the survey, you will be in a drawing for a $100 VISA gift card! Our online survey program will allow you to enter the drawing while keeping your answers anonymous.

Thank you for helping to make the IVMA a better association for YOU!

Save the Date for the IVMA Annual Meeting!

Time for RAGBRAI!

RAGBRAI is next week and IVMA Past President, Dr. Brenda Bright and Dr. Bill Williams, Iowa’s representative to the AVMA House of Delegates, will be pedaling on the annual bike ride across Iowa to raise funds for the IVMA Foundation and ISU College of Veterinary Medicine’s Fredrick Douglass Patterson Scholarship Fund.

As Dr. Bright rides across the state on her trusty Marin bike, she will be stopping at as many veterinary clinics as she can for a quick visit, a water bottle refill and hopefully a donation to the IVMA Foundation. The IVMA Foundation provides scholarships to Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine students.

Dr. Bill Williams will be joining Dr. Bright on the RAGBRAI route. He will be matching any donations made to the IVMA Foundation and his match will go to Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine’s Fredrick Douglass Patterson Scholarship Fund.

Have fun, Drs. Bright and Williams!

Iowa Veterinarians Exempt from Federal Opioid Training

A new notification on DEA registration applications (new or renewals) indicates that beginning June 27, 2023, a new training requirement has been implemented for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Veterinarians are excluded from this training. The AVMA has been working with the DEA on this issue. The DEA will be adding a statement to the notification that says, “This excludes Doctors of Veterinary Medicine and the new applications or renewal applications will not require any action.”
