Our mission is to be a community of Christian
worship, well-being and service

The week of July 18 - July 24
He makes me lie down in green pastures
and leads me beside still waters.
He revives my soul
and guides me along right pathways for his Name's sake.
from Psalm 23

From The Rector

Hello friends,

This week we will be worshiping in the chapel and our scriptures will offer us rich images of God's care for us. There will be plenty of references to God as shepherd. In addition to the familiar 23rd psalm quoted in part above, we will also hear of Jesus's compassion for the crowds, whom he likened to sheep without a shepherd.

Phrases and images that stand out in the scriptures you will hear tomorrow include "come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest awhile" -
still waters, a table set in the presence of enemies, an overflowing cup, an anointed head, getting into a boat, balm, goodness and mercy, compassion, healing touch and dwelling with God for a whole life long.

From these beautiful scriptures we will hear that God's care for us is not only about keeping us safe, but about coming close to us, nourishing us, sustaining us, restoring our souls.

As we preapare for worship, you might spend a few moments in prayer and ask yourself: How has God cared for you recently? Does God seem close? What kind of care would you like to ask God for right now?

I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow, either inside or online. May God be with you and may you know the depth of God's goodness and mercy today and always.

Faithfully, Jennifer

Collect For The Week
Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Exciting News
The choir is back! Anyone willing to sing is encouraged, invited and urged to join the St. Mary's choir which will help lead Sunday worship beginning on July 25th. Just come and help our community amplify their prayer through music-- all ages (and even families!) welcomed to join! Any questions feel free to e-mail Michael Templeton, St. Mary's Pastoral Musician, at [email protected]

Plan Your Vaccination

The more people who are fully vaccinated the sooner the pandemic will end. Our commitment to vaccination is not only for ourselves and our loved ones, it is for the greater good. Getting vaccinated is a way of loving your neighbor as yourself.

The CDC has clearly outlined how much more is possible and safe when we are vaccinated. Please take a look at this guidance which is so encouraging as we seek to regather with fewer restrictions.

Update Message From The Soup Kitchen
Soup Kitchen News Update

Hello fellow Soup Kitchen volunteers. Just a note that we will only be doing one distribution day in July. St. Paul’s is not allowing use of their building to outside groups until at least Sept. so we are in bagged meal mode at least through Aug. But change is coming so please be prepared to jump in to help when we get back into full hot meal mode. I’ll let you know when that is as soon as I hear we can.

If you have any other thoughts or concerns, please email me at [email protected].

Results and Looking Forward Announcement

Thanks to the generous food donations left at our services and at the Parish House, St. Mary's has contributed 914 pounds of nourishing food and sundries to the Martin Luther King Center Food Pantry from January through May of this year. Donations for May increased by a third over those the previous month! Please continue to generously bring non-perishable foods to donate as you come for Sunday worship, or leave them in the baskets in the entry to the Parish House. Salt-free or low salt canned goods are especially needed, but all foods are both much needed and welcome! A team of St. Mary's member volunteers continues to make weekly deliveries of donations collected to the food pantry.
Thank you for all your generous contributions.
