Message from EP Chair....
|
July is a time to welcome summertime, celebrating our nations' birthday, and sharing time with family and friends. For recent graduates it is also a time to relax after all the years of hard work and to start thinking about your new career. As you head out into the work force keep a few tips in mind for what interior design firms are looking for. "For technical design skills firms want to see floor plans, elevations/specifications, AutoCAD/CAD drawings, reflected ceiling plans, lighting/electrical plans, and perspective sketches. Other skills and attributes they look for are honesty, team player, professional etiquette, organizational and time management skills, strong communication skills, positive outgoing personality, and a passion and enthusiasm for design." For forty years ASID has been committed to the interior design industry and its members. "ASID is a community of people - designers, industry representatives, educators and students - committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, ASID strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives." Becoming an Emerging Professional with ASID offers networking and career opportunities, continued education, legislative advocacy, and more. Standout from other recent grads entering the workforce by joining ASID and show your commitment to improving the industry and the lives of those you touch. Please contact me if you have any questions about becoming an emerging professional. Congratulations to all of our graduates and best wishes for your future!
