UB AND VCAMP PARTNER ON SOFTWARE ACCELERATOR
The Buffalo Institute for Genomics and Data Analytics (BIG) and VCAMP 
have joined forces to form a lean-startup healthcare software venture accelerator that will assist in the university's regional economic development efforts. 

The accelerator will have 10, pre-seed stage healthcare, safety and wellness startups come to Buffalo each year for a 14-week program to determine the validity of their software products.

GENOME, ENVIRONMENT AND MICROBIOME COMMUNITY OF EXCELLENCE (GEM)
Five teams selected for GEM pilot grant projects

After reviewing 16 proposals from 41 UB faculty, members from the  Jacobs School of Medical and Biological SciencesSchool of Public Health and Health Professions, S chool of Dental Medicine,   Research Institute on Addictions, and   College of Arts and Sciences, a panel of reviewers from across the university selected five teams for   pilot grant projects. The teams will have the opportunity to perform an initial study to generate data for future funding proposals. Each pilot project will also be funded by GEM to engage an external evaluator to help develop the results for larger grant applications.
