Botanical Transfers
(aka Flower  Pounding!)
with Corlis Taylor and Laurel Herbeck

Learn the art of transferring botanical pigments onto paper! Corlis and Laurel will lead us in practicing the technique of extracting the color and form of flowers and leaves and transferring them onto paper. Bring flowers and leaves from your garden or from the surrounding boreal forest, a hammer or mallet, and several pieces of corrugated cardboard, random sizes. The Guild will provide the paper.

New NBG Display in Rasmuson Library, UAF
EXCHANGE BOOKS

At each Guild meeting we are invited to participate in a Book Exchange. Themes for the books are determined by NBG members at our Annual Meeting and at each program meeting participants exchange the books with one another. There are wonderful surprises!

The new display at the Rasmuson Library features a sampling of these books. Many thanks to Guild members who lent the books for this display and thank you to the following artists who made them: Susan Campbell, Dawn Crass, Kathy Dietrich, Laurel Herbeck, Margo Klass,  Mary Maisch, Pat Sheehan, and Connie Stricks.

Thank you to all Northwoods Book Arts Guild members who created work for BOOK AS ART 2. The show was a great success, with 28 artists producing 58 book works for the exhibition. The First Friday opening was well attended as was the gallery event on June 22nd when the artists presented and discussed the structures, techniques, and contents of their books.

Special thanks to the Well Street Art Co. for hosting the exhibition!
