When Kroger announced the closure of their Triangle-area stores, JFRC went to work. We have organized a task force made of Jewish Wake County residents, including clergy and lay leaders. They are working to ensure that grocery stores carry the kosher products we need (for holidays and all-year-round) for our growing community.

Some of the actions that the task force will complete in the upcoming weeks will include:
  • Sending representatives to a carefully chosen list of grocery stores to ask for a list of kosher products are available at those chains.
  • Creating a survey to get a better snapshot of our community's demographics and kosher needs.
  • Inviting people to join the community-managed Kosher in Raleigh Facebook group.

We appreciate all of the feedback we have received about how important this issue is to our community. The best way to get the grocery stores to listen to our needs is to present a unified response. Please do not act on your own without consulting the committee first.

The next committee meeting is July 15th, 10:30am at Shaarei Israel/Chabad of Raleigh. If you would like to be part of the committee, e-mail info@shalomraleigh.org
