Greetings from Council Member Mike Knox

Have a safe 4th of July and come join us at Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou for Citgo's Freedom Over Texas. Musical performer, Cupid, will open the Main Stage followed by special guest The Mavericks. Chart topping country star, Chris Young, will headline the event. By far the hottest ticket in town. Come celebrate America's birthday.
Few need reminding that we are in hurricane season and most of us know how vulnerable this city can be to storms. It's a good idea to have a plan in place so you can act quickly to save lives and property. Take pictures and have important papers ready in case of an emergency. Also keep leaves and grass out of your gutters and storm sewers.
Salvation Army Zac Foundation Safe Swim. No shortage of kids who want to splash around in the water. Glad the kids are learning how to be around water safely.
Honored to join Mayor Turner in presenting a proclamation recognizing the 70th Anniversary of the Women Armed Services Integration Act.
One big takeaway from Hurricane Harvey is we need more boats to rescue folks. The 100 Club stepped up to purchase a total of 14 boats for police, fire and county.
Celebrated Juneteenth with the unofficial Mayor of Sunnyside Ms. Sandra Massie Hines. Great crowds turned out for live entertainment and always good food.
Freedom Over Texas Luncheon
ABC 13 is again the station to watch for our Freedom Over Texas 4th of July fireworks spectacular. Gina Gaston was our emcee. She will be joined by Tom Koch for the broadcast which is also carried on The Eagle 106.9 FM or 107.5 FM, 93Q Country, or Country Legends 97.1 FM.
Took a tour of Avondale House, a very special place for those with autism from start to finish. Avondale House is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit agency that provides, primarily, educational services to children with autism. Avondale House operates a year-round day school where we serve about 55 students.

Happy to be part of " Great Day Houston's Pack a Bag" segment with Christina Kooker.  The feature promotes Houston as a staycation destination.
