Legacy bricks installed at ALA National Headquarters
Earlier this year, the American Legion Auxiliary Foundation rolled out a legacy brick campaign offering the public an opportunity to order engraved bricks placed at the entrance of the ALA National Headquarters building. Installation of 585 personalized bricks was completed in June. The project raised more than $100,000 for the ALA Foundation’s Mission Endowment Fund. These generous gifts from donors will be used to support veterans and youth through ALA programs. Thank you to everyone who took part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! 73rd ALA Girls Nation coming up!
One hundred high school girls soon will be arriving in Washington, D.C., for the 73rd ALA Girls Nation, held July 20-27! Every summer since 1947, two high school juniors from each ALA Girls State program experience this unique opportunity to represent their state as “senators” at ALA Girls Nation. The program is a profound learning experience designed to teach the young women how the federal government operates. Senators will hold mock senate sessions, visit the White House, meet with their real-life state senators on Capitol Hill, participate in a community service project with U.S.VETS, visit Arlington National Cemetery where they will place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and tour D.C. monuments. You can follow ALA Girls Nation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Just search for @ALAGirlsNation.
