A Message from the Director

As the summer semester at the university is coming to an end, so is the 2019 RBC EPIC Founders Program. On August 1st, eight startups presented their businesses and prototypes to a panel of judges, friends, families and community members at EPICentre. If you follow our social media, I'm sure you have come across their stories the last couple of months. I hope you enjoyed reading them. Congratulations to all founders who successfully completed the 12-week program. I would also like to congratulate Jesse Thompson from HaggleFree for winning the $3,500 Top Founders Award funded by the RBC Foundation, and Mohammad El-Nassar from Lokally for winning the $1,000 Mentors Progress Award funded by Lucas Imagine Fund.
The EPICentre team is now able to take a breather this long weekend before we dive back in to planning our programs and activities for fall semester. In September, we will be hosting the Libro EPIC Social Enterprise Pitch Competition where the top three winners will be selected to participate in the fourmonth Libro EPIC Social Enterprise. Funded by Libro Credit Union, each team will receive up to $8,000 stipend in addition to mentorship, access to co-working space and workshops. The application to enter the competition is now opened. Visit our website for more details. Our makerspace, the Windsor Mold Group EPIC Makers' Base is closed for summer break but will be reopened on September 9th to support students and community members needing access to our 3D printers and laser cutter. Be sure to check our website for hours of operation for fall semester.
Finally, we'd like to thank our Mitacs exchange student Ana Bento Costa for working with EPICentre for the past 16 weeks. We wish her all the best in her future back in Brazil.
As always, thank you for your support
That's a Wrap!
August 1st marks the end of the 2019 RBC EPIC Founders Program. Speechless.... Thank you so much Canada!
I arrived in Windsor four months ago and now I have only four days left in Canada, how crazy is that? I still can not believe how time passed this fast..... But now, looking back, I am really grateful for all the things I learned here and I wouldn't change a thing in this experience!

Catching up with EPICentre Alumni
I met up with our alumni Connor Holowachuk last Friday at the Engineering Capstone showcase at the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation. Connor and his teammates' capstone project, a fitness movement tracker that can help prevent injuries, was an improved version of an idea he came up with four years ago.  Read More
