NEWS WORTHY NOTES AND OPINIONS

I have represented medical providers for forty years.  How our clients are perceived by the communities they serve is absolutely essential to their continued success.  I also recognize that in today's economic climate providers must take all steps to recover the greatest dollars in the shortest period of time, in order to provide the services their patients deserve.

The following article appeared in the June 27th issue of ProPublica, an on line news service.  Clearly, how a medical provider pursues its bad debt should be viewed with care.  If you or your staff have any questions about the appropriate way to handle your A/R needs, we are always available and at your service.

The Nonprofit Hospital That Makes Millions, Owns a Collection Agency and Relentlessly Sues the Poor

Nonprofit hospitals pay virtually no local, state or federal income tax. In return, they provide community benefits, including charity care to low-income patients. In Memphis, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has brought 8,300 lawsuits for unpaid medical bills in just five years.
