Summer hours are here! The Library will be CLOSED Sundays through September 8, 2019.

The Library will be closed Thursday, July 4 for the holiday.
Summer is finally here and the air conditioner is on! Heading to the beach? Why not take a fun photo-op of you reading your favorite book on the beach? On the way there, listen to an audio book on the drive down...just don't miss your exit!
This month is the first full month of "A Universe of Stories" summer programming. The library is hosting events for all ages, from Babies and Books story time to a historical program about The Lunar Landing 1969. Stop or give us a call for more information. Registration for children and teen events is available online at
www.wopl.org
. In addition to story times, the Youth Services Department is hosting a Universe of Music by City Winds Trio, an alien adventure show, Tales of the Night Sky, and a presentation by the Morris Museum Astronomy Society about the planets. Creature Comforts and Lego Club are also scheduled for the first Monday and Tuesday of the month respectively. The Teen Department continues to save the world with the Teen Advisory Group monthly meetings. Teens also have an open mic night, a gaming tournament, spelling bee, comic book club, and Harry Potter program. Raise the Grade is returning to help teens prep for the upcoming school year.
The Adult Department is offering programs on ways to help achieve your best self with presentations on de-cluttering, gravity and planetary motion (open to all ages), the history of the lunar landing in 1969, and astrology. The monthly Film and Dessert continues on the first and third Fridays of each month as well as Monday night ESL Conversation classes.
Last month the library kicked-off the summer reading program with a family program with music, dancing, face-painting and more. The teens celebrated the start of the program, and summer, with Eric Dasher's Game Show to test their knowledge of all things intergalactic. The library also hosted a retirement party for long-time Reference Department Manager Mary-Jean Gurzenda, who retired after 17 years of service. Mary-Jean has been replaced with Brian Plank. Please look for an introduction to Brian posted by the library in the next few days.

We especially need children and young adult books! Books can be brought into the library in bags that are easy for the staff and volunteers to carry downstairs. Any questions about donations can be emailed to [email protected].
