We have rounded the corner on the summer swim season. The heat has finally arrived and with it comes the busiest month in the swim calendar. We started the run into championship season with a fantastic travel meet to Des Moines Iowa. I felt that not only did the team perform well in the pool, but we were also the loudest most excited group at the meet.
I am looking forward to us continuing that atmosphere throughout the championship season. Good luck to all our swimmers this July as they compete in meets from Summer League Championships to Missouri Valley Districts and Champs, Sectionals, Futures, and Zones.
I am also looking forward to leading the Blazers back to being a powerhouse in Missouri Valley Swimming, both in competitions and in leadership and governance. This Championship season is a great place for us to showcase our team pride, unity, and the foundation on which we will build upon as we move forward.
Safe travels and have a great 4th of July this week.

What a great adventure! We started with our team picnic and then attended an Iowa Cubs Baseball game. It was a great way to balance team spirit and to enjoy your teammates' company along with fast swimming. Over the three days, we had 542 events swum and 420 best times, a great place to be mid-season.

Some of the travel team recognitions presented on the trip.

Saturday: Bennett Molitor- Kirsch 200 Breast.
Sunday: Sam Peterson 400 Free and John Christianson 100 Free.
Swimmer of the meet
Annika Finzen, who had 9 prelims swims 9 finals swims, 17 of those swims were best times.

Just as important as the results were the energy and team unity that was on display. The Blazers received a shout out from the announcer about our fantastic cheering and support, by the end of the meet, other teams were trying to emulate what we had happening.
Team travel meets provide a wonderful opportunity for our team to bond as a unit, support each other through the shared joys and challenges that come with being a swimmer, allow our young swimmers the opportunity to take responsibility and ownership of their swimming and experience competition outside of MV Swimming! When you put in the work, it pays off in a big way.
Thanks to our great staff and chaperones for all their efforts in making this a successful meet and trip.

Minor Athlete Protection Policy - MAAPP
|
|
On April 29, 2019, USA Swimming released its Minor Athlete Protection Policy (MAAPP), which was mandated by the US Center for Safe Sport. The MAAPP addresses one-on-one interactions, social media and electronic communications, travel: local and team, locker rooms and changing areas and massages, rubdowns and athletic training modalities. USA Swimming requires full implementation of MAAPP by June 23, 2019.
As a club, we believe that these policies will help our club, swimmers and parents be more aware and foster an even safer environment for all swimmers. You can learn more about USA Swimming MAAPP on the USA Swimming website and to read the full policy please click the link below.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please do not hesitate to contact either George Adcock via email ([email protected]) or Stacy Christie via email ([email protected]).
