The FCC MORALITY & BIBLE Courses,
Live & In-Person
Today, July 1, last day to register!
MORALITY is a five-session course based on the third part (pillar) of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults : Christian Morality, the Faith Lived. Foundations of the Christian moral life will be explored and discussed. Monday-Friday, July 8-12th (10:30am-12:30pm)

It is recommended that CREED and SACRAMENT & LITURGY courses be completed prior to enrolling for MORALITY.

This course will be led by Kristin Bird, on the Diocesan Campus, Green Bay.
 
BIBLE is the only FCC component that is not offered as an online option, based on the Great Adventure: A Journey Through the Bible by Jeff Cavins. Monday-Friday, July 8-12; 9am-11am

This course will be led by Cassandra Kowaleski, on the Diocesan Campus, Green Bay.

There is no charge to register for these classes thanks in part to funding by the Annual Bishop's Appeal (thanks for your support). Registration closes one week before the first session of each class. Classes are subject to cancellation if the minimum enrollment is not met.
Professional Development Course for New Catechetical Leaders: Nuts & Bolts
First session August 1st
All new (to your parish, to the Diocese, to the ministry) catechetical leaders (RE/YM) are invited to attend this first-of-four sessions in this professional development event.

This one includes lunch!

Meet your fellow peers in ministry, pray together, and learn how your ministry ties into the Diocesan mission of discovering, following, worshiping and sharing Jesus. Other topics include: RE Handbooks; Catechetical Certification; Safe Environment; Recruiting Volunteers and Home Schooling Guidelines.

There is no charge to attend (thanks to the funding by the annual Bishop's Appeal), but registration is required, please.

Other dates for Nuts & Bolts (attend one or all): Thursday's; September 12; November 21; and March 26, 2019. 9-11:15am.

Upcoming Dates of CES:

  • July 29-31, 2019: Phase I Discover Jesus. Foundations of the encounter with Christ, focusing on the kerygma and the person of Jesus Christ. Fee: $175

  • August 5-7, 2019: For those who have taken CES I, this course focuses on healing, accompaniment and formation within the discipleship process. Fee: $175

Scott Hahn will be at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help on August 14 & 15, for the Feast of the Assumption and give powerful presentations on The Holy Family, Our Lady and St. Joseph.

Make a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in honor of the Assumption. Come on the evening of Wednesday, August 14, or the morning & afternoon of August 15—or all three!

New Victim Assistance Coordinator

Courtney Coopman joined the Office of Canonical Services last month to assist Bishop Ricken in implementing the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Courtney will respond promptly and coordinate the assistance and immediate pastoral care of any person who claims to have been sexually abused as a minor by cleric, church employee or volunteer. Through a trauma informed lens, she will assess victim needs and coordinate needed services.

Bishop Robert Barron has established a new website and authored a short book ( Letter to a Suffering Church) that places the sexual abuse scandal within a theological, historical and scriptural context and suggests a path forward.


Word on Fire has a new course, "Seven Myths about the Catholic Church" in which Dr. Christopher Kaczor addresses issues like same sex marriage, clergy abuse scandals, contraception. See an interview with Dr. Kaczor about the course.


Pope Francis's new book is Rebuking the Devil which is available from the USCCB. It is written for youth, parents, educators, etc. In it the pope tells the story of the devil’s history, character, and works, and his suggestions about what you can do to see victory over the devil. 176 pgs; $12.95
