HandsOn Sacramento celebrates Independence Day! What better way to celebrate our freedom than by volunteering?

This m onth, our partner agencies have a lot in store for you! Two new agency partners just joined the HandsOn Sacramento family. We have exciting new opportunities this month such as The Salvation Army's Shopping for Operation Backpack and a celebrity fashion show fundraiser, so sign-up and be part of these event’s success.

Mended Little Hearts of Sacramento
Mended Little Hearts is a support program for parents of children with heart defects and heart disease, and is dedicated to inspiring hope in those who care for the littlest heart patients of all. Mended Little Hearts offers resources and a caring support network as families find answers and move forward to find healing and hope.
NorCal Poodle Rescue, Inc.
Since 1985, NorCal Poodle Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming poodles and poodle mixes while enriching the lives of people who adopt them.

HandsOn Sacramento is here to connect you with volunteers throughout the region. Whether you have one-time opportunities or ongoing needs, you can post information in our online database. Your volunteer projects will be viewed by up to 4 million volunteers per month via additional volunteer matching sites.

This Month's Volunteer Opportunities
Museum Volunteer

Placer County Museums
First Thursdays of the Month | 10:30am - 4:00pm
Minimum Age: 4 (with adult), 18

Museum volunteers are needed at Placer County Museums! New Volunteer Training is required and volunteers will commit to a minimum of 10 hours per month where they greet guests, give tours and generally assist visitors in their enjoyment of the exhibits. Some volunteers will also assist with community and education programs, including Living History and Gold Rush Programs, Walking Tours of Old Town Auburn, Cemetery Tours and Heritage Trail.

Go Shopping for Operation Backpack

The Salvation Army Sacramento County
Wednesday, July 10th | 9:00am - 3:30pm
Minimum Age: 1 (with adult), 18

Almost 3.3 million people of all ages volunteered their time, talents, and resources to assist The Salvation Army's work. Our volunteers are critical partners in helping us fulfill our promise to America of "Doing the Most Good."  Here is a quick way to make a child very happy. Grab your friends and family and go shopping for local kids who don't have backpack supplies!

Yolo Food Bank - Eat Well Yolo (Davis)

Minimum Age: 14 (with adult), 18

Yolo Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help out at their West Sacramento food distribution. Volunteers are asked to sort through food and pass out food to people facing hunger in our community.

Land Park Volunteer Corps Work Day

City of Sacramento
Saturday, July 13th | 8:00am - 11:00am
Minimum Age: 14

Come out to help trim, clean, weed, mulch and otherwise spiff up Land Park. Grab a pair of gloves and pitch in. You’ll even get a breakfast boost from Espresso Metro at the beginning of the day and a free lunch after you finish at 12 noon. The group meets directly behind Fairytale Town (3901 Land Park Drive). Groups and individuals are welcome.  

Celebrity Fashion Show - FUNdraiser 2019

Achieving Positive Thinking Worldwide
Saturday, July 13th | 2:00pm - 11:00pm
Minimum Age: 1 (with adult), 18

Achieving Positive Thinking Worldwide is looking for volunteers for their fundraiser. They are looking for volunteers in the following positions:
1. Registration Table
2. Event set-up and break down as well as cleaning after the event.
3. Silent and live auction help
4. Sit at vendor table/silent auction table
5. Helping our celebrities and/or professional speakers before, during and after the Celebrity Chef Cook Off charity FUNdraiser.
6. Other Miscellaneous volunteer duties and needed or suggested.
7. Greeting and directing guests, celebrities, vendors, etc.

Sacramento Region VOAD is now on Social Media!
On June 5th, Sacramento Region VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) launched their online presence in Facebook and Twitter. These social media handles will help promote our platform on disaster preparedness, donating responsibly, long-term recovery and more helpful information about how VOAD can serve the community by responding to their needs in times of disaster.
