Home Sales for First Half of 2019 sales
The 2,700 homes sold during the first half of 2019, with an average price of $223,291, is the highest number since the first half of 2006. The 543 homes sold in June represent a 6% decline over May sales. A link to the June home sales statistics, including a 4-year comparison, is provided on the front page of RVAR.com. The MLS releases its monthly home sales statistics around the 15th of the following month.
Take a Good Look at Yourself!pic
Has it been a while since you last updated your professional headshot? We can help!

RVAR will be providing individual, professional headshots on Thursday, August 22nd (12Noon - 7:00PM) & Friday, August 23rd (8:00AM - 1:00PM) to benefit the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and increase participation among our members. This event is an easy way to support RPAC this year!

Plan to come by the RVAR during the above times and for a $15 RPAC contribution (a $125 value), you will receive a digital-ready professional headshot. Team photos are welcome for an additional $15 RPAC contribution per team member in the photo.

No appointment is needed and there will be light snacks and beverages available throughout the event.

Professional photographer Bruce Muncy will be using a neutral / light grey backdrop for the photos. You will pick out your photo while there and he will send you the touched-up file within a few days.

Did you know that RPAC is the only political advocacy group in the United States that was organized for REALTORS®, is run by REALTORS®, and exists solely to further issues that are important to REALTORS® and protect property owners? As a REALTOR®, RPAC is your defense to protect your business and our industry.

Hope to see you then! (BTW, the photo is of RVAR's first President - W.C. Turner, 1921)

ReImagine 419 Plan Adopted by Roanoke County BOS - A new vision for the Rt. 419 corridor was passed on Tuesday, July 23rd by the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors. The ReImagine 419 plan has been in development for over 2 years. Now that the plan has been adopted by the BOS, it will be incorporated into the county's comprehensive plan. ReImagine 419 includes the corridor from the Rt. 220 interchange to the railroad overpass close to Chaparral Drive and the surrounding land and existing development along this corridor. The RVAR office is located in this corridor.

While many of the ideas in the plan would necessitate involvement by current property owners and private developers, Roanoke County will play an important role in establishing the infrastructure and zoning requirements to make these improvements viable. Roanoke County is already making plans to improve traffic flow and access along this corridor which include:
*   Pedestrian and bike access along with vehicular improvements along 419 between
Ogden Road and Rt. 220. This construction should begin in 2020.
*   Make changes to the interchange at Rt. 220 and 419 to include a "diverging-diamond      interchange"
*   Seeking to make improvements to Fallowater Drive to better access land located
     beyond the Chucky Cheese restaurant.

This corridor is a major gateway for the area and could have a huge economic impact for the region as new development takes place. You can find out more about the plan by clicking here. I will continue to monitor progress of this plan and provide updates in the future.
