Beware of UV exposure
Now that summer is FINALLY here, protecting ourselves and our children from the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays is more important than most realize.

UV exposure is greatest between 10 am and 4 pm. Sunscreens provide protection by absorbing, reflecting and scattering the sun’s rays. The amount of time before the sun starts to damage the skin varies depending on the time of day and the UV index.
According to the American Skin Association the best way to protect our skin is by wearing at least SPF 15 sunscreen whenever out in the sun. The formula to use for how long sunscreen is effective is dependent on how long it takes for you to burn. For example if you burn after 10 minutes of exposure then you would need to reapply SPF 15 sunscreen after 150 minutes:

 (1 1/2 hours) SPF 15 x 10 = 150 minutes

The desire to enjoy every minute of the brief summer that Michigan offers is immense, but don't forget to protect your skin.
Healthy skin is in.
