Kudos to Our FISH Champions
Thank you to our "Fundraising Champions" and our entire Broomfield community for your generous support over the past four months! Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors virtual campaign surpassed our goal and together we raised $120,000! The fundraiser concluded in June with a car parade and yard signs for our champions-- Chris Roarty with Anthem Ranch's Volunteer Club, Ellie McKinley, Guyleen Castriotta, Matt Gray, Tina & Doug Reeves, Carolyn Crouse, Jen Gray, Karen Steele, Clelia McVay, Kelly Sokol, YAB, Skyestone, Epsilon, and State Farm! FISH has seen a dramatic increase in NEED in our community, but thanks to your contributions we have been able to keep more than 6,000 unduplicated people fed and housed.
2 X the Food, 5 X the Rent
Broomfield families are struggling more than ever as a result of the pandemic. In mid-March, FISH saw a huge surge in the number of people coming for food, personal care items, and of course, toilet paper. We are now distributing an average of 150,000 pounds of food each month, which is double the amount from the same time last year. In addition, many families are forced to think about where they will sleep at night and if they can keep a roof over their heads. In June alone, FISH provided 55 families with emergency assistance for rent and utilities. The total cost was more than $50,000, which is five times the amount from last year. We are so grateful to our community for helping us sustain this effort!
Volunteer Spotlight:
Sharon Craig
A large part of our culture at FISH is jumping in and offering to help wherever is needed. Our volunteers are always willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever task is most critical in the moment. This month we highlight Sharon Craig, who began volunteering in early 2019. We quickly realized that she was a whiz on the computer and enjoyed turning chaos into order. She has been helping us manage spreadsheets, thank donors, and track food inventory ever since. Thank you, Sharon, for all you do to support FISH!
Be Like Jade & Jorin- VOLUNTEER
FISH needs people like Jade a Jorin, a husband and wife team, to help at FISH with food distribution on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We are still following all CDC health guidelines and have a few restrictions. Please consider volunteering with us IF...

 Sources of Strength
What helps you get through difficult times? Where do you turn to find strength when faced with challenges? Broomfield's Youth for Youth group is focusing on ways to promote connectivity and resiliency through a community-based program called "Sources of Strength." Two FISH staff members, Dayna Scott and Sharon Tessier, are among the many youth and adults participating in this initiative. The idea is to harness the power of peer and community networks to spread healthy norms, ultimately preventing suicide, bullying, and substance youth. Look for more news on this effort in the fall and click here to learn how the program will be launched in our community.
