We are so proud of our youth. They were able to share their insight, concern but also hope for the future. They want to take a stand FOR Justice, Tolerance and Diversity. They did a beautiful job sharing reflection, spoken word and poetry about thoughts on what is going on in our larger society, how important respect is and how it is our actions not just words that matter. Tammy shared thoughts on how our future depends on how we treat each other. We want our youth to speak up against any sort of hate, bullying, intolerance and to resist racism in any form whether subtle or obvious. As has been said, “
Racism is perpetrated through the silence of the many more than the evil actions of a few”
. An earlier generation of Americans, from all walks of life, helped to end the Vietnam War by saying “not in our name”. This is our time, along with our youth, to stand up and work for a “better tomorrow” for the youth we represent, our children and their future children. Out of the mouths of babes….such wisdom! A big thank you to Students and Staff for creating and cultivating a safe, tolerant and loving environment!
