JULY 2021 EDITION
As the summer continues, we make plans for our future.

We are filling mission critical positions to help keep up with an increase in work both in the courtroom and at our counters. Our Recording Department continues to see record setting trends due increases in building, refinancing, and remodels of properties.

Last month, I hired a new administrative assistant to assist me in better serving you all and the public. Most of you have met Kimberly Lyons, based mostly in Viera; but if you have not, I look forward to introducing you shortly. She is a talented individual with a can-do attitude and we are fortunate to have her abilities on our team.

In September, we will be holding our first ever In-Service Day at the Holiday Inn Viera Conference Center. The day will be filled with informational sessions on different areas of our office and lunch and a snack will be provided. We are currently working on finalizing the format and sessions, and will provide information to each employee on their agenda for the day in the coming weeks.

Additionally, we continue to monitor the uptick in COVID-19 cases throughout the county and the state. Should directives change locally or at the state level, we will keep you updated and informed.

As always, I hope you and your family are happy, healthy, and safe. My door is always open and I look forward to hearing from you!

Warmly,
Ruth Stahre

We are saying goodbye to our former Payroll Supervisor Ruth Stahre as she heads off into retirement!

Ruth started her career with the County's Purchasing Department where she worked from 1979 to 1986. While at the Clerk, she has worked as a temporary Value Adjustment Board hearing clerk and moved to Payroll in 2000.

We know she will enjoy spending more time with her three children and granddaughter, Lily.
Brevard County Executive Leadership Institute Graduation

Last week, our I.T. Operations Support Supervisor, Angelo Flores, and our Payroll Supervisor, Catherine Leonard-Moody, graduated from Brevard County's Executive Leadership Institute!

Sherry Sanker, Amber McBride, and Titusville Court Clerks: One of my 3 Wishes was to sit in on traffic hearings with a judge. When I notified the Titusville Court Clerks that I would be attending the Titusville traffic hearings, they were all so accommodating and welcoming! Sherry Sanker got me set up as to when and where to be. Amber was also guiding and helping me. The courtroom experience with Judge Friedland was so interesting! I was so thankful for Sherry, Amber, and ALL of the Titusville Court Clerks who did a wonderful job in and out of the courtroom! -- Carmen Busto"
Keta Asbury
Compliance & Collections
June 2021 Gold Star Winner

"Despite Keta’s transfer to Compliance & Collections, she has frequently been called upon for coverage in Injunctions and continued training assistance in Tax Deeds. We are all aware every time Keta is “borrowed”, it is time away from her own C&C training.

She is a team player and is never reluctant to lend a hand when needed.

Keta has a reliably positive attitude and is an outstanding candidate for the Gold Star Award she has received."
Alan Greshel
Programmer/Analyst
July 2021 Gold Star Winner

"As many of you know, Alan is a Programmer/Analyst and a member of our IT (Information Technology) Department who started working for the Clerk’s office in 2001 and is an invaluable member of our UCR project team.

Alan has been an integral part of ensuring Brevard County was ready for submitting UCR (Uniform Case Reporting) Reports to the State Office of State Court Administrator (OSCA), which will eventually take the place of the SRS (Summary Reporting System) Reports. Alan is also our point of contact for some of the internal reports we receive daily (Daily Event Listings, Civil Review List, etc.).

For Alan’s tireless efforts with this ongoing project, the Gold Star Award is one way of letting him know how much he means to the Clerk’s Office as well as the UCR project team."
We will be hosting our first-ever In-Service Day on Thursday, September 16 at the Holiday Inn Viera Conference Center at 8298 North Wickham Road, Viera, Florida 32940.

All Clerk employees will be required to attend except for telecommuters who are not local. Additionally, employees will be required to wear regular business casual attire; jeans will not be permitted.

Lunch and a snack will be provided and information regarding assigned learning sessions will be shared over the next several weeks!
We recently launched a one stop clickable link for customers to interact and connect with the Clerk's Office.

Instead of needing to click on multiple pages or links, customers need simply click on the logo many employees have added to their email signatures, taking them to one page where they can connect with our social media channels, visit our website, or even submit an employment application!
Over the next few months, our I.T. and Organizational Development & Public Affairs departments will be working with staff throughout the office on updating our website!

The new site will be built based on analytics of what our customers and internal users are clicking on and accessing and will feature a more modern, interactive feel to highlight our forward thinking!
In 1844, the legislature voted to create Brevard County from portions of then-Mosquito County (formerly St. Lucia County).

Brevard's original territory ran from present day Volusia County south to Lake Okeechobee. It's current boundaries were settled at the beginning of the 20th century, with Titusville being named the county seat in1894.

The county received its name from Theodore Washington Brevard, an early settler in the state and the state's comptroller from 1853 - 1861.
