Welcome to those receiving this newsletter for the first time and welcome back to those of you who are subscribed. If you missed the June 2021 Part Two News and Views where I talk about Jupiter retrograde among other things, you can do it here
conta.cc/2SMawAn. Since I did not talk about the Neptune Retrograde station in the last newsletter I have written a bit about it here. But the main aspect that is occurring this first week in July is the Mars-Saturn-Uranus t-square, which you can read below. I have written in the past about Mars-Saturn contacts which are always explosive and potentially violent especially last year when Mars was retrograde so it meant that in 2020 Mars in tropical Aries/sidereal Pisces formed connections with Saturn in tropical Capricorn/sidereal Sagittarius three times. This year the Saturn-Uranus square, also happens three times due to those planets retrograding during that square but because Mars is not retrograde it will only make contact with that square, once, through an opposition to Saturn and a square to Uranus, and that once is this week. I did not focus on the Mars when I did the year's review since I was more focused on the Saturn-Uranus. But since the combination of Mars-Saturn-Uranus is occurring as we speak, it is important to look at its possible ramifications in the world at large, and also in your own chart. Please scroll down for that. I am also starting a new series of Intermediate Jyotisa classes beginning July 7, and the webinar on the next 12 months will be held on July 15. Scroll down for the following:

Neptune Retrograde. June 25, 2021. 19:21. Tropical. 23° Pisces 11. Sidereal. 29° Aquarius 08. pūrvabhadrapadā
Neptune opposite Sun. September 14, 2021. Tropical. 21° Pisces-Virgo 47’. Sidereal. 27° Aquarius-Leo 43’. pūrvabhadrapadā-
Neptune Direct. December 1, 2021. Tropical. 20° Pisces 24'. Sidereal. 26° Aquarius 20'. pūrvabhadrapadā
For those of you who use Jyotisa in a very strict way, and do not include Neptune in your practice, then you can skip this section. But for those of you who integrate the outer planets in your sidereal (Vedic) calculations or use tropical astrology, The phenomenon of retrogradation takes place when a planet appears to reduce the speed by which it travels, stops (stations retrograde) at a particular degree, and, as a result, “appears” to move backwards for a fixed amount of time, causing it to linger longer than usual in a portion of the zodiac. At some point in the retrograde cycle, as it moves “backwards” through the zodiac, the planet slows once more, stops once more (stations direct), and then moves forward again. Midway through the retrograde cycle, the inferior planets (Mercury and Venus) form a conjunction with the Sun as they are closest to the earth, and the superior planets (Mars through Pluto) form an opposition with the Sun as they are closest to earth. If you have an opposition of the Sun with one of those superior planets they can only be retrograde during the opposition. Of course this is all from the standpoint of the observer on Earth. We can see above that the Sun-Neptune opposition will be exact on September 14, 2021.
Neptune retrogrades for about five months each year so the fact that it is retrograde, and that many of us have Neptune retrograde in our natal charts, is not necessarily out of the ordinary. However the dates when it stations retrograde and direct, which this year are June 25 and December 1, and the week before and after the station, often shows something powerful that relates to Neptune. This could be positive in the form of artistry, music, creativity or something glamorous and mysterious. On the other hand, because Neptune rules water, it could indicate floods, or things simply being washed away, projects ending, of something dissipating that just cannot be brought back. This year it is very eerie to see that the building in Seaside Florida, which was right on the water, collapsed under horrible circumstances at around 1:30 AM on June 24. This will be tragic and mysterious for a long time to come, and as with Neptune's symbolism, it just acted like the older term for Neptune, which is the "great dissolver" meaning simply that what Neptune destroys can never come back, as opposed to Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto, which all restructure. Of course eventually what Neptune destroys will be redone and rebuilt but it will require a completely new trajectory.
If we do look at the degree of the retrograde station, and because it moves so slowly it only increases two degrees until the direct planetary station. Planetary stations (the degree where the planet stations retrograde and direct) are among the most powerful degrees and the retrograde journey of the planets is always fascinating to watch. Neptune's retrograde journey affects you if you have planets, points, or angles, between 19-24 tropical Pisces, and sidereal 25 Aquarius-0 Pisces but especially they are conjunct the degrees of the planetary station. Neptune travels so slowly so I would not be alarmed at the house it is in since it is there for 18 years. For instance Neptune is in tropical Pisces from April 4, 2011 through January 26, 2026, and sidereal Aquarius from April 19, 2008 through February 15, 2023 so don't get too alarmed if you think that house is being destroyed. It won't work like that.
Mars-Saturn Opposition. July 1, 2021. 13:08 GMT. Tropical. 12° Leo-Aquarius 20’. Sidereal. 18° Cancer-Capricorn 17’.
Mars-Uranus Square. July 4, 2021. 1:39 GMT. Tropical. 13° Leo-Taurus 54'. Sidereal. 19° Cancer-Aries 51'.
As I wrote in the introduction above, Saturn and Uranus formed their second square on June 14, and Mars will oppose (form full aspect) Saturn on July 1 and then Mars will square Uranus on July 4 (GMT). (The square is the 90 degree aspect in the Western system, but in the Indian system it forms what we call a 25 percent aspect since it moves forward ten signs.) Since these aspects on July 1st and 4th are still connected with the Saturn square Uranus, you can click here to read what I wrote a few weeks ago about that conta.cc/2SMawAn. (Remember again that while that is a square in the Western system, Saturn is moving four signs forward to Uranus which is a 75 percent aspect.)
The Mars-Saturn opposition, which is exact on July 1, will be within an orb of about one degree from about June 29-July 4, and the Mars-Uranus square, which is exact on July 4, will be within an orb of about one degree from about July 2-July 7, we can say that the period from June 29 through July 7 is volatile. You can also just call it a t-square between these three planets, meaning that Uranus forms a square to both sides of the opposition. Even though Saturn-Uranus formed the exact square on June 14, they have been in orb the entire month of June, and while they are now separating, it seems that the period from June 29 through July 7 could still be categorized as one in which the three planets are relating to each other. One of the major events that has been in the news has been the building collapse in Florida, which while it occurred on June 24, the recovery effort is still occurring though there should be a culmination over the next few days, since sadly the possibility of finding more survivors grows more unlikely. Emotions are obviously heightened through this period and while it will not end on July 7 this incident will continue to be in the news for a long while. We sent our thoughts and prayers to all the families.
Other events that could happen when Mars, Saturn, and Uranus contact each other are sudden meteorological events. We already have been experiencing an unprecedented heat wave. Mars and Uranus can bring accidents, electrical problems, blackouts, or a major shift in leadership, or sudden illnesses, accidents, falls, or angry incidents. Watch for major changes that happen suddenly. Sometimes you cannot prevent an accident, if it is caused by someone else, but you can do the best you can especially since Saturn brings frustration and pent up anger, while Uranus can let it out in an explosive way. Avoid any road rage and drive very defensively. Don't take physical risks, and just be more cautious than usual. Wimbledon began its tennis tournament on June 28, and even before the tournament began some major players pulled out due to injuries, and on the very first day two players had to withdraw from their matches due to falls from an especially slippery Center Court. One of those players was Serena Williams, so it was especially sad since she is one grand slam short of beating Margaret Court's record (for those who are tennis fans).
Even if nothing more happens of an explosive nature, it is necessary to still stay calm during this storm, since within the next week, the tension may be great in general, and more incidents that involve high emotions, violence, tragedy, could occur in different parts of the world. On June 30 I wrote the following on social media: "Please remember to breathe deeply over next few days. Don't overreact with anger and keep away from others expressing it due to possible travel delays, arguments and monetary losses. There may be enough anger around all of us with Mars and Saturn already in orb of their opposition on July 1. The heat exacerbates explosiveness, frustration and anger. Watch the fireworks this weekend literally and figuratively but don't get too close." Yes it is also July 4, the day in which we celebrate Independence Day in the U.S., but it is also a day when we light fireworks and have shows. People sometimes also get hurt if they are not careful so we should all be careful and watch what is around us at all times. This goes for people all over the world who are obviously not celebrating Independence Day, but who are still all living under the same sky, with the same aspects.
The first time I noticed that Mars Saturn was potentially violent was during the Columbine school shootings on April 20, 1999, and last year's first square with Saturn occurred on August 24, the day after Jacob Blake was shot in Kenosha WI. Again I do not mean to say that these aspects will always bring violence and if you can temper anger and release it then it will go a long way. Meditate, breathe deeply, and keep it light. Since people will be celebrating the 4th of July, at least in the U.S. don't get led into debates with people who have points of view that are so different from your own that it makes you angry. Communicate about what you have in common, and leave politics, religion and other controversial issues on the side. Take deep breaths if you feel that there is anger erupting inside you. Most important with Mars transits, whether or not they affect your chart, is to get your physical body moving. Take walks, run, take part in sports, go to a gym and work out. If you do not go to a gym, there are so many Youtube videos and online classes with yoga instruction, pilates, and exercises at all levels. Buy weights and use them. Once you have done that, then go inward and breathe, meditate, pray, or simply reflect on the goodness and love that you have in your hearts. I know this may sound cheesy, but love and compassion are very real emotions that can outweigh the negativity. I am not saying that things won't happen in the world. I am just saying that if you allow it to overtake you, it can affect both your mental, physical, and spiritual health. And most important slow down, and keep it light.
Mars-Saturn Opposition. July 1, 2021. 13:08 GMT. Tropical. 12° Leo-Aquarius 20’. Sidereal. 18° Cancer-Capricorn 17’.
Mars-Uranus Square. July 4, 2021. 1:39 GMT. Tropical. 13° Leo-Taurus 54'. Sidereal. 19° Cancer-Aries 51'.
In addition to experiencing these aspects as an indication of the general climate in the world, it may affect you more intensely if you have planets, points, or angles near the above degrees. If you use tropical astrology those degrees will be between 11-14 of the fixed signs, which are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you use sidereal (Indian) astrology those degrees will be between 17-20 of the cara (movable or cardinal) signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Of course it may be more intense if any of the planets above are conjunct those planets, points, or angles, but the modalities mean that you can feel those degrees if you have positions at the same degree in those modalities.
