Greeting fellow Chamber members, summer is officially here, and with summer we apparently (finally) received our long overdue spring showers! While most of the area is wet and soggy, we sure are happy to see the flowers growing and blooming, which is always so beautiful to see while strolling through downtown.
Summer always brings excitement for the fun events Lisle and the Chamber are known so well for. Some of those events still won’t happen this summer, but we seeing more and more events return throughout the community. A few of those great events are right around the corner. Lisle is hosting a 4th of July parade on the 4th starting at 10:00am from the Lisle Jr. High School and proceeding through town to the Museums at Lisle Station Park. On July 3rd, Fireworks return to Community Park starting at 9:30pm lasting for 25 minutes. While we look forward to seeing people enjoying the 3rd and 4th activities, we also hope to see you all on the 13th at our annual Golf Outing at Seven Bridges Golf Club. Spaces are still available for singles and foursomes, please consider signing up as this is one of the larger fundraising events for our Scholarship Fund this year.
We may not be seeing all of our normal summer events return, but the ones we are seeing are exciting to have back, and we can’t wait to start seeing all of you around the community throughout the summer.
Speaking of events returning to in person, Don’t forget to join us on July 20th for an in person LINCT meeting! This meeting will be in person at Wheatstack, A Midwestern Eatery and Tap. RSVPs are required, please email [email protected] to RSVP today! There will also be a Ribbon Cutting taking place at Poundcake Bakery's new location, 4730 Main Street, Lisle, on Friday, July 23rd, at 5:00 p.m.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE

I am on a little adventure as I write this article. I have a new granddaughter that was born this past February in California. My husband and I drove to California to meet her and visit my sons, grandson and daughter-in-law. We traveled through many states to get there. The southwest was under a major 100 plus degree heatwave. Traveling through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, we experienced the heatwave with the highest temperature being 111 degrees. Oh, did I mention we are towing an RV? Each state and each town had their own “mask on, mask off” rules. I spoke with many business owners about their stories going through the pandemic. So many shut down their businesses just like in the our area. They spoke of pivoting to new ways to bring their goods and services to their customers. The most common complaint has been not being able to hire employees for those jobs. Campgrounds shut down and people weren’t traveling nearly as much. But many people I spoke with said they see the light. Some have more business this year more than a few years combined. There is positivity and hope for their future.
We are now heading back home through the states of Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois. Every campground has been sold out for months and they have to turn people away. Luckily, we booked in February. There is a common thread across the states. The small town businesses were struggling and some closed but the entrepreneurial spirit is still alive and hope for success in the future is prevalent. The stories are similar and the true test to a business owner is to keep moving forward.
The Annual Golf Outing is taking place on July 13th at Seven Bridges Golf Club. There are still slots open for individual golfers and foursomes. You can register your foursome or individually on our website, or by contacting the Chamber at (630) 271-4102. We look forward to seeing everyone on the links.
On June 20th, the communities of Woodridge, Naperville, and Darien were affected by an E-3 tornado. Neighbors and the Community have come together to help everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. If you are looking for ways to help, please visit the Village of Woodridge's website and the City of Naperville's website.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Nicole Ponziano
Meal Village
This month's featured Ambassador is Nicole Ponziano of Meal Village. She joined the Chamber in December of 2020 and this past April, joined the Ambassador Committee. In addition to the Ambassador Committee, Nicole volunteers her time each Saturday at the Chamber table at the Lisle French Market.
Nicole is the Marketing Manager at Meal Village located on Main Street in Downtown Lisle. As the Marketing Manager, she plans promotional events, does marketing research, advertising and some social media management. Nicole has been with Meal Village for a year and has previous experience in promotions. She is a mom living in Aurora with her 12 year old son, Thomas. When she is not busy working, she likes watching movies at home and enjoying a night out with friends.
Nicole enjoys the networking opportunities the Chamber has to offer and meeting new people. It has helped Meal Village get involved with events around the community, increasing their brand awareness. Nicole's favorite quote is from Nelson Mandela, "It always seem impossible until it's done."

Independence Day Fireworks Display -
July 3, 2021
An Independence Day fireworks display is scheduled for Saturday, July 3, 2021 beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Community Park. The show is expected to last approximately 25 minutes. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to this family-friendly event to view a spectacular aerial show in celebration of Independence Day!
Spectators are encouraged to walk or bike to Community Park. For those needing to drive, parking is available at the following locations: Riverview Drive & Short Street lot, Sea Lion Aquatic Park, and Lisle High School. As a reminder, alcohol is not permitted in the park.

Fourth of July Parade - July 4, 2021
In addition to the fireworks display, a Fourth of July parade is scheduled for Sunday, July 4, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. The parade route will begin at Lisle Junior High School, proceed west on Jonquil Avenue, north on Main Street, west on School Street, South on Center Street, ending at the Museums at Lisle Station Park. This year, parade participants will not be throwing candy or handing out items.
