Account Verification Emails – Interactive Brokers is very serious about security; thus, they will send emails out asking you to log in to your account to verify that your information is indeed current. Things that may have changed since you opened your account include your address, marital status, beneficiaries, or phone number. Keeping this information up to date helps to keep your account secure.
Advisor Consent for Withdrawal – If you have tried to take money out of your account you will notice that Interactive Brokers will notify your advisor that you are doing so. This is to ensure that your advisory team is aware that you are making withdrawals and ensure that it is indeed you and not a criminal who has hacked your account.
New Bank Accounts – If you are adding a new bank account to your Interactive Brokers account, please know that they will not send money to that account for a period of 30 – 45 days. This slows down the potential theft of your funds if a bad actor – criminal – has gained access to your account and personal ID and is setting up new financial accounts in your name.
If you have any questions about these and other security features associated with your Interactive Brokers account, please contact your Wilson Wealth Advisor.
