Oprah Winfrey Honors Board Member
Kenneth Braswell
Congratulations to BCDI-Atlanta Board Member Kenneth Braswell for his tribute on OWN Spotlight's "Honoring Our Kings - A Black Dad Conversation"! We are so proud of your great work at Fathers Incorporated! Let's continue celebrating and educating fathers together.

In June, BCDI-Atlanta and our Atlanta Choose Healthy Life partners continued working in communities to combat COVID-19.

  • At Jazz On The Lawn, COVID-19 testing, vaccination and education were provided, along with 125 PPE bags.
  • At the Black Unity Festival, COVID-19 testing was provided, along with 75 PPE bags, snacks, water, and information about the initiative. In two days, we connected with 200 community members to emphasize the importance of testing and vaccination.
  • During the month of June, at total of 689 COVID-19 vaccinations and 139 COVID-19 tests were administered through our partnership with 10 local churches.

Thank you to United Way of Greater Atlanta and Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta for investing in this work!
Keep up the EXCELLENT work administering these health and wellness partnerships, BCDI-Atlanta Director of Programs Shirleta Lawrence (pictured right)! You, your team, and our partners are making a SIGNIFICANT difference in communities throughout Atlanta!

In partnership with Lyft, United Way is helping more people access COVID-19 vaccines through the Ride United program. Don’t allow lack of transportation to keep you from getting your vaccine. Dial 2-1-1 to see if you qualify for a FREE or discounted ride!
We are excited to share this month’s “Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” bundle, Let’s Talk About Measurement, thanks to our partners at Too Small to Fail!

It's never too early to start learning about math! Exploring measurement concepts, like size and weight, is a great way to build early math skills. From talking about how close or far away a favorite toy is, to comparing the size of different fruits and veggies, there are many ways to have fun with math! This month's bundle is filled with ways to help parents and caregivers talk, read, and sing with their children about measurement.
