Tom McDonough’s background was corporate Canada with Levi Strauss & Co, where he travelled & worked internationally, and was responsible for major National accounts like Sears and many others.
He began his journey with PPLSI on a very part-time basis in 2000 protecting and empowering individuals and small businesses. He has personally protected over 1,500 families and small businesses and is now a trusted advisor with PPLSI.
Fifty years ago, our founder Harland Stonecipher encountered legal challenges. He did not know what the future would hold, but he had a vision to find a company on the simple, yet powerful idea that all humans deserve a secure life and just treatment under the law.
The idea began with a wallet card, a phone number and a handful of forward-thinking lawyers.
Fast forward five decades, and PPLSI has a law firm in every state and province with thousands of passionate lawyers helping members with their legal concerns.

The roots are based in public service and knowledge, with wisdom being the trusted outcome. About 60 years ago, the legal industry changed shape when law firms began implementing billable hours as a standard practice. Fifty years ago, the industry was disrupted when PPLSI began providing legal services in a consumer-friendly format. And our company continues to innovate and help millions solve and prevent legal issues.
