Frederick is hot… Summer temperatures are soaring and so are local business and employment opportunities across the City. Over the past few months we’ve seen countless Frederick businesses open, expand, relocate, and or renovate. On top of that Frederick was just named #17 on the list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. and July is the month that locally we always celebrate Frederick County's Best Places To Work – recognizing those businesses which go the extra mile for their employees. We announced our new partnership with Frederick County Office of Economic Development as the signature sponsor of the EmPOWER Program to support and build strong minority & women owned businesses across the city and county, as well as a partnership with Frederick Community College to support new food business entrepreneurs. The City of Frederick & Frederick County Economic Development teams are excited to announce the launch of a "Food Business Entrepreneurship" course in partnership with FCC’s Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism Institute this Fall. Program participants will learn the essential skills to plan for, start, and operate a food service business. The program will culminate in a pitch competition with monetary awards.

techfrederick, a coalition of local high-tech companies, completed its third annual Hackathon on May 21st, yielding incredible results for some Frederick area nonprofits.
