President's Message: YouMeRotary
|
|
My Fellow Rotarians:
I have always loved John F. Kennedy. If you visit the John F. Kennedy Museum in Boston, Massachusetts, you will be amazed by the well-thought-out and intelligent perspectives offered by both John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy.
I began my tenure as Niles Rotary President on July 7th and a year of challenges for my friends and fellow Niles Rotarians (and me) has begun! I wish to thank those that came to me – long before being asked -- to serve in my year. I am also grateful to our members who have agreed to stay on in various capacities to help steer this ship.
You may wonder what I see as I look across our in-person Rotarians at our meetings. You may also wonder what I see as I view the screens of those who join us online. Well, what I see goes far beyond what is right before my eyes.
When I joined Rotary 11 years ago, I joined with a heart that longed to serve. I was seeking to connect with other community members who had the same mindset: a desire to serve. I have not been disappointed. Since I joined Rotary I am grateful for all that we have accomplished yet I see that our work is not done. Not by a long shot.
This year I ask you to review what is in your heart. I ask that you take a fresh look at what inspired you to join Niles Rotary -- whether that was decades ago or just months ago. I know that you like me, had a desire in your hears to give back...to give more...and to give fearlessly. As Kennedy said, "...there are no promises, but challenges."
I will ask more of you this year and expect more of you this year. And throughout the year and throughout our efforts, I know that we will have the best time. Why? Because we are Niles Rotary and there is only one way all of this happens: YouMeRotary!
