MESSAGE FROM MAYOR PRIBONIC

First, and foremost, I want to thank you all for the overwhelming support for our Celebrate Together, #CelebrateStow events that we have hosted so far this year! We have had great attendance at these events, and at our Concerts on the Green series. We are so looking forward to executing our traditional Stow Fourth of July Parade next week! I can’t wait to see you all there! Whether you are a participant or a spectator, please read up on road closures and parade protocol so that the day runs smoothly. Read about it below in this newsletter.

As we move along through this summer, I want to make you aware of some key issues for our community that are covered in this newsletter. I am highlighting these issues to keep our community safe.

  • Everyone needs to be aware that there has been a significant change in the State of Ohio fireworks laws – Fireworks Laws for Consumers – that go into effect July 1. Please read further about this, so that we can all enjoy and safe and harmonious holiday.
  • Everyone also needs to be aware of the City’s Door-to-Door solicitation policies. Although the individuals working for companies qualify to go door-to-door and receive a permit, the City does not necessarily endorse these companies or their products or services. Please note that the City of Stow does not have representatives going door-to-door to provide information or enroll residents into our utility aggregate programs. Read more about Door-to-Door Solicitors in this newsletter to better protect yourself, and also access the list of approved door-to-door solicitors.

Have a very safe and happy holiday!

Sincerely,

John Pribonic
Mayor, City of Stow
City of Stow Fourth of July Parade & Firecracker Run are BACK!
CELEBRATE TOGETHER #CelebrateStow

The City of Stow Parks & Recreation and the Kiwanis Club of Stow-Munroe Falls are excited to bring back the traditional Fourth of July Parade event! The committee has planned an amazing event with close to 100 entries with tens of thousands of viewers expected.

As always, the parade will take place on Monday July 4th 2022, rain or shine at 10:00am. The parade takes place on Kent Road and starts just WEST of Target. It travels down Kent Road past Holy Family church, and ends at Park Drive. The route is approximately 2 miles.

Road closures on the fourth will take place on Kent Road and related arterial roads from:
7:15am – 8:30am for the Firecracker Run
9:30am – 12:30pm for the parade

Door to Door Solicitations
Although the individuals working for companies qualify to go door-to-door and receive a permit, the City does not necessarily endorse these companies or their products or services.

Residents should know the following:

  • The City of Stow does not have representatives going door-to-door to provide information or enroll residents into our utility aggregate programs. All of our programs provide information through the US mail with the associated City of Stow Logo reflected;
  • Although a solicitor carries a “Solicitor’s Permit” with the City’s logo on it, that does not mean they represent the City;
  • Residents should never provide account numbers, copies of bills or other personal information to a solicitor!
  • Residents should be cautious and review the offer closely before enrolling in a program they are unsure of. When in doubt, don’t sign up!
  • Residents can always call the Mayor’s office to verify the solicitor or the Public Service Department for help;
  • If there is a problem with a solicitor being forceful, rude, or disrespectful, contact Police Dispatch immediately to request officer assistance
CONNECT WITH NATURE SERIES
Connect with nature just outside your door. This Summer, the City of Stow Parks and Recreation Department and Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library have partnered to present outdoor programs for area residents.

It's a Wrap - 36 Traffic Signal Boxes Are Now Beautiful Art
The City of Stow’s Arts Commission announces the second round of traffic box art, a city beautification project, has been installed. “We are so proud to have this program in the City of Stow,” stated Mayor John Pribonic, “sharing Northeast Ohio artists’ unique drawings as a form of art wrapped onto the electric boxes around the city and brightening people’s drives.”
