Summer is underway, and the MWMC is here to make it a great one through our exciting Summer of Giveaways series! We're continuing the fun this month by giving away two 3-day passes to the Lane County Fair to one lucky Water Wisdoms Newsletter subscriber.

If you’re receiving this email and are already subscribed to our newsletter, we’ve automatically entered you into the giveaway as a thank you for following along with our monthly updates. Those not already signed up for our e-updates who subscribe by 11:59 p.m. this Wednesday, July 13 will also be entered. A winner will be selected and notified Thursday, July 14. Encourage a friend or family member (someone who would take you if they win 😊) to subscribe to our newsletter too and increase your chances!

The MWMC is a proud presenting sponsor of the 2022 Lane County Fair, July 20-24 at the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene. This year, we’re again the Fair’s exclusive sponsor for multi-day admission passes.

H2Oh! Exhibit Opens at Springfield History Museum
The MWMC is a proud partner in the Springfield History Museum's Springfield H2Oh! exhibit, which is now open to the public.

The exhibit provides an opportunity to explore Springfield's water systems, including connection to the MWMC's regional wastewater treatment plant where water from throughout all of Springfield and Eugene is cleaned and then returned to the Willamette River.

The H2Oh! exhibit also shares information and artifacts related to Springfield's water history, the City's stormwater system, the Springfield Utility Board's drinking water system, the water workforce, pollution prevention tips and resources, and more. The exhibit offers a fun water quality laboratory for kids complete with play microscopes and lab coats, as well as interactive elements for all ages.

Head to Downtown Springfield to check out the fun and learn more about the one water we all share! The Springfield History Museum is open Thursday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the H2Oh! exhibit will run through December 31, 2022.

MWMC Ratifies FY22-23 Budget, Including Rate Change
If you study your monthly Springfield Utility Board (SUB) or Eugene Water & Electric Board bill closely, you’ll notice a slight change in your wastewater rates this month.

As of July 1, 2022, a 3.5% change was applied to regional wastewater user rates to allow the MWMC to continue to clean water and protect the Willamette River. The regional wastewater charges represent a portion of your overall bill and provide necessary funding for facility upgrades, as well as operating and maintaining existing wastewater treatment facilities. The local rates reflected on your bill are set by the City of Springfield or City of Eugene, depending on where you live.

For a detailed breakdown of fees for both Eugene and Springfield customers, more information on what user rates fund, and to view the MWMC's full Operating Budget and Capital Improvements Program (CIP) document for Fiscal Year 2022-2023, click here.
