Caitlyn's Recommendation: The Fort by Gordon Korman

This is Gordon Korman's 100th book! When five boys are exploring in the woods after a hurricane hits their town, they stumble upon a underground fort that they believe was a bomb shelter built by a wealthy man in town a long time ago. They make a pact to keep it a secret between the five of them and they all use it for different things; though arguably the most important use of it is by CJ, who's using it as an escape from his abusive stepfather. When the town bullies start to suspect the boys of keeping secrets from them, and CJ's stepfather starts to get worse, keeping the fort a secret is more important than ever. Best for grades 6 and up.

Kristy's Recommendation: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I love this classic science fiction adventure story that re-imagines Cinderella in a futuristic world in which cyborgs and droids live among humans. As a deadly pandemic wreaks havoc around the world, Cinder, secretly living as a Cyborg, meets Prince Kai, the soon to be king. Little do they know that their world is about to change dramatically when political and personal events come crashing together. This book is also great on audio and is available to check out immediately through Hoopla. Great for grades 6 and up.

Felicia's Recommendation: They're Watching You by Chelsea Ichaso

Maren Montgomery's best friend and roommate, Polly St. James, goes missing after spending the months prior distancing herself from any of her friends. Maren knows Polly had a secret that she was about to share before she disappeared. A secret that had to do with the elite, ultra-rich crowd at Torrey-Wells. After finding an invitation to the Gamemaster's Society among Polly's things, Maren starts questioning her classmates in this secret society about the truth of what happened to Polly. In order to be told anything useful, Maren must join and make it through the dangerous initiation. She discovers a world she never knew existed within her school, where Society members compete in high-stakes games for unheard-of rewards―Ivy League connections, privileges, favors. But Maren's been drawn into a different game: for every win, she'll receive a clue about Polly. And as Maren keeps winning, she begins to see just how powerful the Society's game is―bigger and deadlier than she ever imagined. Recommended for grades 8 and up.
