4-H Council Dates

Linn County 4-H Council is meeting on July 26, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. and will be in the 4-H building at the Linn County Fairgrounds.


Miami County 4-H Council is meeting on July 10, 2023, at 8:00 p.m at the Paola Office.
Coming Up Quick
Cloverbuds/Sunshine Makers
Cloverbud meetings are held in both Linn & Miami County locations. Both meeting will cover the same topics, so there is no need to attend both, you may attend a meeting in either county.
The topic for this month is "Foods"

LNCO Cloverbud Meeting is July 6, 5:30 p.m. at the Linn County 4-H Building.

MICO Cloverbud Meeting is July 13, 5:30 p.m. at the Paola Extension Office.

THERE WILL BE NO AUGUST CLOVERBUD MEETINGS DUE TO FAIRS!
Teen Day Camp

Friday - July 7, 2023
Time - 9am-4pm
LaCygne Community Park, Enclosed Shelter

Open to any youth ages 13-18

Join us for an outdoor leadership adventure we friends! Develop your leadership style during this fun day camp just for teens while you make new friends.

Bring your Swimsuit and towel! We will provide snacks and a pizza lunch!

There is a $10 Registration fee which is includes Swimming, Snacks, & Lunch
Entomology Project Information

We will meet at the Allen County Extension Office on Saturday, July 8th at 1:30 p.m.

This is the final meeting to get ready for Fairs. We can work on pinning, identification, arranging insects in boxes, getting labels on insects, checking pictures for notebooks - whatever you need.

If you need Vicky to put the styrofoam layer in your insect display boxes, please call ahead of time at (620)804-9170 so she can visit with you about what is needed.
Miami County Fair & Rodeo - July 22-29, 2023
JULY 7th - 4-H Pre-Entry Deadline

On the MdC Miami County Fair website you will find videos with instructions on how to use the
pre-entry system, and other information to help you with our fair.


Instructions for Entering Booths or Banners
This year, one of the club leaders will need to enter the booth and/or banner in the FairEntry System. To do this, after you sign in using your 4HOnline account, please add an exhibitor that is your club name. Then you will find the Booth and Banners department to enter the exhibit.
4-H Foundation and Project Clubs can enter the same way.

Fashion/Style Revue Modeling Tips
If you are new to fashion/style revue or would like some tips from a 4-H member who has experienced Fashion Revue. Check out the video by Sidney Wilson giving techniques and tips for modeling your outfit at Fashion Revue Judging. The Tutorial can be found on our YouTube Channel by clicking here.
Pullorum-Typhoid Testing

The annual Pullorum-Typhoid testing requirements for the state of Kansas have been relaxed.
 
We are now testing every 5 years with the Marais des Cygnes District being scheduled for 2025.
 
 
The Miami County Fair and Linn County Fair will not require the testing for poultry showing in 4-H & Open class poultry shows in 2023.

Linn County Fair & Rodeo - August 5-12, 2023
The Clothing/Sewing Judging, Public Style Revue and Performing Arts Show is July 29 schedule will be available closer to time.

Fair information and forms (astronomy, rocketry, welding, etc) can be found by going to the MdC District Linn County Fair page on our website.

Kansas State Fair - September 8-17, 2023
State Fair Pre-Entries are due August 14

Any 4-H member who is 9-18 can exhibit their purple ribbon winning exhibit at the 2023 Kansas State Fair. Please check the Kansas State Fair Book for entry limits and rules/guidelines.

You must pre-enter those items at the Miami County Fair in the Fair Office during or come by the Paola office after fair is over to enter them.

Linn County pre-entry sign-up is available at the Linn County Fair on Thursday, August 10th from 1-3pm in the 4-H Building or at the Mound City office on August 14th.

This is not livestock & horse entries but does include Clothing & Textiles, Crops, Energy Management, Entomology, Fiber Arts, Foods & Nutrition, Foods Preservation, Forestry, Geology & Lapidary, Home Environment, Horticulture, Photography, Communications (Demonstrations/Illustrated Talk, Project Talk, Poetry & Prose), Shooting Sports Educational Displays, STEM (Ag Mechanics, Architectural Block Construction, Astronomy, Computers, Robotics, Rocketry, Unmanned Aerial System, and Educational Exhibits), Wildlife, Woodworking, Rabbit, and Poultry Exhibits

Fashion Revue and Visual Arts are limited and those qualifying exhibits are selected by the judges at Fair.
