Incoming Members of the Board of Trustees and Advisory Committee
Incoming Executive Committee

Effective July 1, 2023, Deb Morel (at left) embarks on her second year as Chair. Lisa Tretler, who served as Co-Chair the past two years and has completed her board service, has rolled onto the Advisory Committee to continue her many year commitment of time and energy to SAS. SAS thanks her for her leadership and dedication. Joan Bowen is serving a third year as Co-Vice Chair and Susan Myers a second year as Co-Vice Chair. Janet Korins continues in her second year as Secretary and Jordan Copeland is serving a third year as Finance Chair.

Newly Elected Members of the Board of Trustees

Scarsdale Adult School welcomes Alan Bey, Debby Bobson, and Marc Samwick to the board of trustees for their first three-year terms. Bobson has served on the Advisory Committee since the 2020-21 term. Bey and Samwick have both expressed interest in SAS over the years and are eager to become more involved. In addition, Mary Lou D'Silva, Nina Fixler, and Alan Steinfeld have all been elected to their second three-year terms.

Rolling off the board are Tina Kurzner and Paul Poster. SAS thanks them for their contributions over the years and welcomes their ongoing engagement as students in the classroom.

New Members of the Advisory Committee

Brand new to the Advisory Committee this coming year for their first two-year terms are Dona Brucker, Matthew Callaghan, Karen Campbell, David Gao, Robin Gottlieb, Janet Gutterman, Phyllis Herz, Gary Katz, Jane Klein, Chris Marks, Dana Matsushita, Elizabeth Perrone, Donna Robertson, Jane Rosenberg, Jyoti Ruta, Cynthia Samwick, Vivian Sonnenborn, Frances Stevens, and Yang Xu. As indicated above, Tretler will also be joining the Advisory Committee this year. The PTA and PTSA liaisons from each unit in Scarsdale and Edgemont are still in formation.

Hats off and many thanks to the following individuals who are rolling off the Advisory Committee: Paulette Bollag, Mary Ann Brown, Judi Galst, Carrie Gilpin, Andrea Glanz, Alison Greene, Janet Hershey, Joyce Hirsch, Zoe Kolpen, Kathy Pecht, Jody Reiss, and Ellen Sunness.

Thank you to the nominating committee for selecting these lifelong learners to help steward SAS into the future.
