URGENT: Volunteers Needed

Stepping Stones is running on E with hotline volunteers. Currently there is only one external volunteer, with staff covering the remaining shifts. With impending staff reductions due to funding cuts and student volunteers leaving for the summer, we are in desperate need of as many volunteers as possible. Anyone that has completed the required 40-hour training, please consider covering a few shifts to help Stepping Stones balance their workloads.

For those who haven't completed the training, please reach out to Nastasha if you are interested in being trained.

Empowering Experiences

From June 5-9, CEO Liz German, VP Melissa Breeden, and Interim Director of Labyrinth Made Goods Candice Byrd represented YWCA McLean County at the YWCA USA National Conference.

The conference served as a reminder that YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women is a global endeavor. The inspiring work of YWCAs across the country and around the world was showcased, highlighting their efforts to overcome funding challenges and break down barriers in underserved communities. The conference also showcased innovative childcare programs, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.

During Capitol Hill Day, the YWCA McLean County representatives advocated for important causes, including the support of the Child Care and Development Block Grant, Anti-Racism in Public Health Act, and VOCA/VAWA. Employee Spotlight

Monica Rondone, Finance Consultant & former Finance Director

The YWCA family takes great pride in recognizing our very own Monica, whose contributions have shaped the organization's financial health over the years. Monica's story is one that intertwines skill, patience, and profound understanding of our mission and the people at its heart.

Joining us as a board member in 2011, Monica demonstrated her natural knack for finance, taking up the mantle as the Finance Chair the following year. After completing her two terms, Monica transitioned to the Finance Director role, marking the beginning of an era that would change the YWCA for the better.

Beyond her exceptional professional acumen, Monica created an environment that celebrated unity and familial bonds. Archana said it beautifully, "...sometimes words are not enough for a person with whom you spent almost whole day, every day in good or bad weather."

Monica's in-depth understanding of YWCA, its history, programs, and mission, coupled with her gentle demeanor, makes her an excellent sounding board and friend to many.

As she gears up to embrace a well-deserved retirement, Monica plans to read, knit, travel, and spend quality time with her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered and cherished for years to come.

Thank you, Monica, for the dedication, the smiles, the patience, the lessons, and for being a beacon of consistency in the face of adversity. Your contribution has been monumental, and you will always be a cherished member of our YWCA family.
