Welcome to the Chamber's 2023 Small Business Spotlight series, where we take a moment each month to highlight one of our small business members!

This month's feature company is The Pantheon.

We sat down with the operations manager, Keri Lane, to ask her a few questions about the business. Read below to learn more about The Pantheon!

The Pantheon Theatre began construction in 1920 and had its opening night on May 16, 1921. After a massive renovation project that began in 2019, we opened our doors as a coworking space and business incubator in

December 2020.

Here at The Pantheon, our mission is to foster innovation, cultivate entrepreneurship, and attract and nurture business growth in Knox County. We do this through coworking, business and entrepreneurial programming, and direct support to entrepreneurs who are developing and growing businesses. Although our building has been in existence for over a century and has served our community in various ways throughout history, our current role in the community as a coworking space and business incubator is still young, having only been in operation for two and a half years.

We provide a warm, inviting, professional office environment for our members to work and conduct business, as well as rental space that can accommodate up to 150 people, and all of our small business resources, which are provided at no cost to anyone who needs them.

Not only is the history of The Pantheon an important part of our community, but the building itself is a magnificently beautiful and unique space for our members and community to gather. We are the first business incubator and coworking space in Knox County and are proud to be able to provide unique resources not previously available to our community.

Over the past 12 months we have seen steady growth in educating the community on who we are and what we do, but also in memberships, community use of the space, and new and exciting programming. Over the next year we will strive to exceed this years' numbers and continue being a vital part of the community. We will continue to serve our mission and look forward to seeing the continued growth of The Pantheon.

Here are some ways we have grown and served our community:

  • Over the past year, we have added almost 400 people to our network, either through membership or through our mailing list, and we currently have 67 members.
  • Attendance and participation in Pantheon sponsored events over the past year was 1,300.
  • In 2023 alone, our small business services including Entrepreneur in Residence Jason Salstrom along with ISBDC Business Advisors Julie Folz and Brian Southern have served over 70 local companies and entrepreneurs in Knox County. This includes creating 8 new jobs and 4 new business starts.
  • Since January, we have had nearly 1,100 people in attendance at meetings in our rental spaces, including our 2 conference rooms, The Balcony, and The Stage.

We highly encourage anyone that works remotely and wants to have a better work/life balance, has an existing small business or hopes to start their own business, needs a space for a meeting or event, or anyone who is just curious about what we do here to reach out to us. Come in, take a tour, and let us share all the amazing things happening here at The Pantheon.
