DOL's Overtime Rule Takes Effect with One Exception



Well, here we are - July 1st. As of this writing, the U.S. Department of Labor's overtime rule has taken effect with one exception.

How Will SCOTUS' Ruling on "Chevron" Impact Employers?

In 1984, the Supreme Court of the United Status ruled that if the Congressional intent behind a law is unclear then a federal court must give deference to the federal agency that enforces that law.


On June 28th, SCOTUS reversed that ruling. I was recently asked what impact this might have on the FTC's pending noncompete rule.

A case was recently settled for $65,000 to resolve claims the employer discriminated and retaliated against two employees based on their race and religion.

Rare GINA Case Costs Employer $515K


Last year, charges filed with the EEOC alleging a violation of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act constituted .3% of all charges filed in the agency's entire fiscal year.


This case serves as a reminder of the cost of violating this federal law.
