Clarification on POA Dinner No-Shows | |
|
The policy on no-shows has been altered slightly due to certain costs that are applicable to all dinners (e.g. supplies, service, and clean up fees).
Moving forward any no-shows to dinners who have not cancelled by the RSVP deadline will be charged the cover fee for that event. This includes cookouts and potlucks. RSVP deadlines vary by event based on caterer requirements and will be posted on the physical sign up sheets, the online RSVP pages, and in the newsletter. No-shows can write a check to the POA and give it to Devon or drop it off at the next Monday night event when you check in.

This year we are introducing what we hope will become an annual tradition for the Mountain Glen Community: Christmas in July.
Last November a group of 12 people in our Mountain Glen Community gathered donations amongst ourselves of quality toys, school supplies, and personal care items and had dinner and a shoebox packing party, assembling 25 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We had so much fun in our efforts for this very worthy cause that we no sooner finished than we asked ourselves, how can we grow this event? How can we get more people involved in providing a small gift at Christmas for kids around the world who otherwise would not get one? For many, these gifts are the first they have ever received.
For more than the last three decades Samaritan’s Purse has been distributing shoe boxes to children in need all over the world. That program is widely known as Operation Christmas Child. These shoeboxes are put together by people from all over America. Over the last 30 years, over 220 million boxes have been distributed. This year, we would like to pack at least 100 boxes from our Mountain Glen Community to be distributed to kids around the world.
You can participate by providing a monetary donation, pre-designated supplies, and/or by helping pack shoeboxes after our Christmas in July dinner on Monday, July 29th. Details regarding donations (there is a specific list of supplies) and costs will be available at Monday Night Dinners leading up to July 29 or you can view the list and costs online. If you wish to make a monetary donation, please make your checks payable to 1 Life Missions. Checks may be brought to Monday Night Dinners or dropped off with Devon in the office.
PS There will be a delicious dinner that night catered by Kaye's By The River and we encourage you to come dressed for Christmas!

The "J" in July Stands for
Junior Golf at Mountain Glen
| |
|
Exciting news about Junior Golf at Mountain Glen, along with a fun chance to volunteer from our Head Golf Professional, Robert Nowak.
Junior Golf Camp
July 8th-11th
If you have a junior from the ages of 6-15 that plays golf or is interested in golf, then sign them up for our Junior Golf Camp. Whether they have never played golf before or have been playing for years, this camp will be the highlight of the summer. We will split them up into small groups to insure individualized instruction, with daily contests and games. Lunch will be provided all 3 days. Then we finish with a Parent/Child Tournament on Thursday night, with dinner and awards. All campers will receive a gift package at the end of the week. For more information, contact the Pro Shop. Limited to the first 36 juniors. ($249 for members / $299 for Non-Members)
Drive, Chip and Putt
July 13th
Mountain Glen has the privilege of being a regional site for the National Drive, Chip, & Putt contest. (The finals are at Augusta National the week before the Masters.) Juniors 15 and under will be competing to advance to the next stage. With this being said, we will be in need of volunteers to help check-in the players and keep score for the different events. The competition will be held in the morning from 8-12. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Pro Shop.
PGA Junior League
now through mid-July
You may have noticed some juniors playing golf all wearing the same colors. These are junior golfers playing in the PGA Junior League. Mountain Glen has a team of 13 juniors that are participating and representing the club. So far this year, we are off to a great start. We have had victories over Pine Oaks and Clear Creek, and suffered a narrow defeat to Johnson City last week (we were missing 2 of our better players). We will finish off the season in mid July with hope of several of our players advancing to the league's All-Star Team which will compete with other teams in hopes of winning a national championship.
