Summer Reading is underway! Register for our Summer Reading Challenge on Beanstack and participate now through August 11 to be eligible for prizes. Challenges are available for children, teens, and adults.


As you read and log books, engage in challenge activities, and attend Library programs, you will earn badges. Each badge you earn in Beanstack counts as one entry into the weekly prize drawings for gift certificates to local businesses. The more badges you earn, the more chances you have to win one of our raffle prizes! Children ages 11 & under are also eligible to earn special prizes, including an opportunity for a Topsfield Fair prize package.

(Virtual) Dungeons and Dragons for Adults

Creative Journaling Workshop

Thursday, July 11, 6:00-7:30pm

Explore supplies and prompts to help you begin a journaling practice. You do not need any previous experience with writing or the arts. Anyone can use journaling as a tool to nurture creativity. 


Basic journals and art supplies will be provided. If you already have a journal that you would like to use, please feel free to bring it along! You are also welcome to bring any photos or materials that you would like to add to your journal.

Herbal Bath & Body Potions Workshop

Thursday, July 18, 6:00-7:30pm

Make a natural bath and body kit to pamper yourself and your family. This workshop will include making a sugar scrub, a fizzy bath bomb, scented foaming soap, and herbal bath salt. Learn to use essential oils as you create bath products to enjoy.

Johnny Cash Tribute Concert

Mindfulness Workshop

July Book Clubs

Patton Homestead Book Club will meet at the library on Tuesday, July 2 at 3:00pm to discuss The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill.

Make a Felted Sloth

Join Pop Up Art School to make everyone's favorite slow-moving forest dweller. Learn how to sculpt a sloth using a special needle and wool roving. Needle felting is fun and easier than it looks.

Terrific Terrariums

Thursday, August 1, 3:30-4:30pm

Learn about cacti and succulent care by creating a terrarium complete with a live plant, sea glass, sand, marbles, and more. Workshop led by an educator from New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill.

Where is Scout?: Summer Reading Mascot Hunt

July 1 - August 9

Scout Has Left The Library! Beginning July 1, look for Scout the Sloth - our Summer Reading Mascot – at various locations throughout Hamilton & Wenham. He loves to sun himself in windows! When you spot him, go to your Online Summer Reading Challenge in your Beanstack account and click on the Scout Badge for that week to write where you spotted him. You’ll earn that week’s badge and be entered into a Finding Scout weekly prize raffle.

Read for a Cause: Support Waypoint Adventure

This summer, visit the children's room to add your name and a title of a book you've enjoyed to our display. Your participation will ensure a donation from the Children's Room to Waypoint Adventure, a local non-profit educational organization providing adventure opportunities to youths and adults with disabilities through guided, experiential programs. Summer Sensory Sensation

Snakes of New England and Around the World

25th Annual Vehicle Night

PAWS to Read to Keeva

The Therapy Dog is IN! Drop by anytime between 3:30-4:30pm to get some one-on-one time reading with Keeva and her trainer, Ms. Fleming.

Books Bite Damage Forgiveness Program

From July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, patrons whose Hamilton-Wenham Public Library books are damaged by a pet’s appetite for reading will be eligible to have your replacement fee waived!


If your furry family member has chewed up a library book, send us a cute photo of the hungry culprit to share on our social media, and we’ll forgive the cost of the damage.

Friends Book Donation Day

Mondays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 10:15am-4:00pm

Please give us your BOOKS, CDs and DVDs in good condition to sell at our book sales. Donations are limited to 4 bags at a time. If you have a donation larger than 4 bags please email the Friends at fohwpl@gmail.com.

Resource Spotlight: Mango Languages

Traveling this summer? Brush up on your conversational skills with Mango Languages! Mango includes virtual instruction in over 70 different languages. Use spoken lessons, recorded responses, quiz slides, and grammar and culture notes to build vocabulary, fine-tune pronunciation, and more.


Mango includes access to Little Pim, a language education tool geared towards children ages 3-6.


To access Mango, you will use your Hamilton-Wenham Library card number and preferred email address to set up an account.
