NEW! 2024 DPRP Standards

The 2024 Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP) Standards are live and available on the Customer Service Center (CSC)Please note: While the 2024 DRPP Standards are effective as of July 1, 2024, the anticipated implementation date is August 1, 2024. In order to make the system changes necessary to implement the 2024 Standards, DPRP functions are paused for the month of July, including applications for DPRP recognition, National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) Umbrella Hub Arrangement (UHA) applications, reviews of alternate curricula, and data submissions. During this time (July), organizations will have no access to the DPRP Data Submission and Administration Portal (DPRP Data Portal).

The following timetable assumes an implementation date of August 1, 2024. If there are any unanticipated delays, all events will be shifted back accordingly, and your organization will receive timely guidance.

  • Organizations that have data due in July will be required to hold their submissions until August. Those submissions will be evaluated under the 2024 DPRP Standards.
  • Organizations with submission dates in June (should they choose to wait and submit in August) and July 2024 will be granted a recognition extension and will wait to submit data in August. Again, these organizations will be evaluated under the 2024 Standards. This will allow CDC to prepare for the system changes that will occur while the DPRP Portal goes offline during the month of July.
  • Organizations will have 6 months to make internal systems changes to fully implement the 2024 Standards and produce a data submission file in the 2024 format. Until that time, the DPRP Portal will include a tool that will convert files in the 2021 format to the 2024 format. Once converted, organizations will be responsible for making any necessary changes and submitting newly converted and updated files through the DPRP Portal.
  • In July, DPRP staff will provide several webinars/office hours to explain the changes in the 2024 Standards and the DPRP Portal. You may find information on these opportunities on the National DPP CSC calendar.
  • The DPRP will not accept applications for CDC recognition or National DPP UHAs in July. Organizations will be asked to use the new DPRP application form starting August 1st.
  • The DPRP will resume accepting applications for alternate curricula review on August 1st. Organizations are strongly advised to hold off on any planned curriculum adaptations to ensure their program materials and delivery plans align with the 2024 DPRP Standards.
  • CDC will be unable to update organizational information, process contact updates or changes, and address withdrawal requests during the month of July.

Data and evaluation considerations:

  • Organizations that submit data on cohorts that begin before July 1st will not be responsible for providing participant-level zip codes (PARTICIPZIP) or adhering to the new payer options (PAYERSOURCE) for participants in those cohorts.
  • Organizations that submit data on cohorts that begin on/after July 1st will be responsible for providing participant-level zip codes (PARTICIPZIP) and adhering to the new payer options (PAYERSOURCE) for participants in those cohorts.
  • The calculation of average weekly physical activity minutes for participants in cohorts that began before July 1st will use the methodology outlined in the 2021 DPRP Standards.
  • The calculation of average weekly physical activity minutes for participants in cohorts that began on/after July 1st will use the methodology outlined in the 2024 DPRP Standards.
  • Any data submitted on/after August 1st (regardless of cohort start date) will be evaluated against the 2024 DPRP Standards.
  • The DPRP Portal will provide a conversion tool that will allow organizations to upload files in the 2021 format and convert them to the 2024 format for 6 months, beginning August 1st.

File considerations:

  • Files in a validated status on July 1st will no longer be available to submit. They will only be available for download.
  • Files in a submitted status on June 30th will be rejected by the Data Team.
  • Files uploaded on/after August 1st must be submitted in the 2024 format.
