July 2024 News and Updates

The Collaborative Awarded Grant from Maryland Department of Labor

We are proud to announce the launch of a new initiative as part of the Direct Care Workforce Innovation Program, Winter 2024 Competitive Grant program!

The Collaborative has been awarded just over $49,000 to be used, along with matching funds, to train and educate students to become CNAs and GNAs through a partnership with the Beacon Institute’s CNA/GNA Training Program and CNA Simulations, an innovative web-based platform that offers interactive virtual clinical simulation.

CNA Simulations’ library of customized, interactive clinical simulations is designed to support CNA clinical training in multiple ways, including as part of the lab training for CNA training programs, as test prep for CNA exams, and as adjunct learning opportunities for students.

The project aims to build students' confidence and capacity to deliver outstanding care, as well as increase their likelihood of job retention and satisfaction. The project will provide this innovative training to four its upcoming cohorts.

"Direct Care and Services Workers: Improving Job Quality in Baltimore and Beyond," was designed to include participants who offer their expertise, on-the-ground solutions, ideas for further exploration, and recommendations for action steps to help solve direct care workforce challenges and improve job quality care in Baltimore and the Maryland region.

If you attended one or more of the four webinars since last January, we hope you will complete the survey below to provide feedback for our future work.

Please stay tuned for the final portion of the initiative, which entails the publication of issue briefs that address the topics covered and considers evidence and other sources relevant to direct care and services professionals in Baltimore and beyond.
