Transfer Station Passes
The Town of New Canaan requires residents to purchase an annual Transfer Station Permit to use the Transfer Station services. The permit year is July 1 thru June 30 of the following calendar year and permits are not prorated if purchased later in the year.
Regular permits are $75 per household and $45 for households with private garbage collection. Residents in condos who don't know their private haulers, can just put the name of their condo association in the application rather than the garbage hauler. For more information or to purchase a permit go to: newcanaan.info/departments/public_works/permit_application_.php

Hello From Kate
My father-in-law is an extraordinarily well-regarded physician. He thinks my and my husband’s fixation on our daughter’s hydration is silly. He also hates water and drinks diet coke like it’s going out of style; so I think he’s silly. It’s our little generational repartee. But my argument is, ok, fine, you hate water, you hate carrying around whatever trendy reusable water vessel is being toted around (leaving those other reusable water bottles gathering dust in the corner of a kitchen cupboard, never to see the light of day or biodegrade…but I digress). The point is, you can get hydration from any number of places including fruits and vegetables- especially ones like melons and cucumbers, berries and tomatoes, oranges, and celery. And this is one of the better times of the year to enjoy all this juicy goodness. This heat also makes it a great excuse to enjoy fruit popsicles. Something we like to do in our house is freeze grapes. It’s cooling, hydrating, and just enough sweetness to feel like a treat. And guess what, my father-in-law doesn’t think those are silly.
