Hornbaker Hosta Dig

Every year, sometime in late June to mid-July we begin our yearly hosta dig. We select varieties from our propagation beds that have been growing for at least two years and are ready for division. Our crew divides the hostas in early summer because this is when we have time to take on such a large project.

The 2024 Artisan Market is September 14th!

Join us for a community art experience!

We are excited to unveil our community mural project for this year’s Artisan Market. The 2024 design was created by Sallee Zearing of Princeton and is entitled "Awakening." Market guests will be invited to contribute to the creation of this 6’ x 6’, 100-piece mosaic mural. Participants will receive a pattern, a blank square, and everything needed to complete their small artwork. The mural will come together piece-by-piece throughout the day. All ages are welcome with children under 12 needing an adult to assist.

Last year we offered this hands-on art experience for the first time. You could feel the energy and anticipation build throughout the day as this group art project came to life. We had to dodge some raindrops, but it didn’t slow us down! Some folks jumped right in while others were hesitant. Check out the pictures below to watch the 2023 mural, titled "Big Hug" come to life.

2024 Mural Design: "Awakening" by Sallee Zearing

It was inspiring to see all ages ultimately enjoy this opportunity to create together.

The 2023 mural is hanging in the garden center today alongside the beautiful arbor in our pottery department. It brings a pop of color and is enjoyed by many.
